God Brings Change In Your Life For your Growth

Listen to this article

Why We Need Change In Life?

Change is something we can’t do without; remember, there can be no meaningful growth without change. Without change, you will keep making the same mistakes, which will keep landing you in the same problems. The spiritual world as well as the physical world are changing very quickly, so we should change as well.

Brethren, if you find yourself spinning your wheels, not making progress, or just not happy with your current state, maybe it’s time to have that conversation with yourself because It could be the day that everything changes. You never know what’s going to trigger it, it may be getting laid off from your job, a personal crisis, etc. Whatever the trigger is, it can be the start of a whole new life. It can make you either modify your dreams or magnify your skills.

Parable Of The Boiled Potatoes, Boiled eggs, And Boiled Coffee Beans To Illustrate Change.

CHANGE IS NECESSARY

Just to illustrate how change works, I will tell you a story. A woman filled three pots with water and placed them on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, she placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot, and ground coffee beans in the third pot. After a few minutes, she took out the potatoes and eggs and placed them in a bowl. She then took the coffee out and poured it into a cup. She asked her daughter who was nearby. “My child, what do you see?” Her daughter hastily replied “Potatoes, eggs, and coffee,”.

“Look closer,” she said, “and touch the potatoes.” Her daughter did and noted that they were soft. The woman then asked her daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, her daughter observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked her daughter to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face. “Mom, what does all this mean?” she asked. Her mother then explained that the potatoes, the eggs, and the coffee beans had each faced the same adversity—the boiling water. After all, adversity does not build character, but it reveals it. – 1 Peter 5:9

However, each one reacted differently. The potato went in strong, hard, and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak. The egg, with its thin outer shell, protected its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard. However, the ground coffee beans were exposed to boiling water after they were roasted. They changed the water and created something new (Matthew 5:13-15).

Which one are you?” she asked her daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond?” Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean? “
In life, things happen around us, and things happen to us, but the only thing that truly matters is what happens within us. The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be. Brethren, which one are you? Are you a potato that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, you wilt and become soft and lose your strength?

Are you an egg that starts with a soft heart but changes with the heat? Do you have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship, or some other trial, you become hardened and stiff like a hard-boiled egg? Does your shell look the same, but on the inside, you are bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or are you like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, making it release a sweet flavor, the very circumstance that brings the pain. Are you like the beans? When things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level?

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy. The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can’t go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. (Genesis 45:3-15).
