Measure of faith

God Has Given Everyone A Measure Of Faith Now.

Does God Give Faith to Everyone?

According to Romans 12:3,” …God has allotted to each a measure of faith.” Yes, and also no. Yes, because it’s a gift that God as our father, gives to us as his children, but it’s up to you to accept it or not. It is both a gift and a fruit, it is a fruit according to Galatians 5:22,But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faith,”.

It is also a gift when you read 1 Corinthians 12:8-9, “To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another, the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.”.

That is why the apostles told Jesus to increase their faith, in Luke 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” The apostles knew that he was the giver of this faith through the Holy Spirit, and he is the only one who can increase it or give it. Ephesians 4:8,” … and he gave gifts to people.” That means everyone and not some special few.

That is why based on Romans 12:3 which says,” …God has allotted to each a measure of faith.” It means that whether you are saved, or unsaved God has given you a certain measure of faith that you use to do certain things.

For instance, in the book of Exodus 7:11-13, the magicians in Egypt used their measure of faith and threw down their staffs, and they turned into snakes. Then also, Aaron used his measure of faith and threw his staff, and it turned also into a snake and it swallowed the other two.

According to Luke 16:8, “And the Lord commended the unjust steward because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” We see that all parties had faith irrespective of their belief systems and the knowledge of application. We see that God acknowledges the correct application of his laws even by unbelievers and he honors it.

A case in point is when a man who was not a follower of Jesus applied the principle of casting demons in line with the kingdom of God and he succeeded, and upon hearing about him the disciples wanted to stop him, and Jesus said that they shouldn’t stop him because he understood the operation of the kingdom by using his measure of faith well. (Luke 9:49).

Measure of faith

We still see another case in point of some other people who never knew that they had this measure of faith and instead wanted to misuse someone else’s measure of faith and as a result, they failed. We see in Acts 19:13-15 that the seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva wanted to cast out a demon in the name of Jesus (whom they never believed in) but knew that Paul believed in, so they wanted to use Paul’s measure of faith to chase this demon.

Since God and the devil know your measure of faith, the demons said to the seven sons of Sceva that they knew each and everyone’s measure of faith, and their faith was still lacking, and so the demons wouldn’t be casted out because the sons of Sceva were trying to steal Paul’s measure of faith. KNOW YOUR LEVEL IN THE SPIRIT AND THE MEASURE OF FAITH GIVEN TO YOU.

To increase your measure of faith you might need to offer something of great value in return to the one who can increase the faith and that is God. So, people do it knowingly or unknowingly, some are forced to do it by circumstances beyond their control.

For instance, in the Book of Judges 11 :11,30 to 35, a God-fearing man named Jephthah wanted God to increase his measure of faith so as to enable him to win the battle, so he made a vow to the lord that he will offer a burnt offering of anything that comes to greet him first from his house after victory. God increased his measure of faith, and he won, and it so happened that it was his only child, his daughter, who came to greet him first but because he had made a vow he fulfilled it without fail.

Yet in another case in the Book of 2 Kings 3:26-27, we see how an evil Moabite King wanted God to increase his faith and enable him to win his battle against the mighty army of Israel. So, he offered the Lord his most precious person, his son who would inherit his throne, and by so doing God increased his faith and he won the battle.

According to Matthew 17:19-20, If for instance, to do a certain thing you need a certain amount of faith or measure of faith, then that thing won’t be achieved unless you have that amount of faith at hand, and that is why when we find that we don’t have that amount of faith we end up doing all manner of things to achieve it.

Before you say that something can’t be done check whether you have the right amount of faith required to do that thing.

God has given you a certain measure of faith for free as a gift and you don’t have to do anything to make it start working. It’s just there for you to use, just like you don’t have to do anything for the electricity to appear when you turn on a switch. The switch is just waiting for you to use it, it is just there always.

So why are you not using your measure of faith by now?

This is called residential faith; it is that faith that stays with you irrespective of your lifestyle and it’s available whenever you need it.

A case in point is found in Mark 5:25-34, of a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years, she had this resident faith that she will be healed if she touched Jesus’s garment. This resident faith was increased by what she kept hearing about Jesus (Romans 10:17), So, when Jesus saw her, he said your resident faith has healed you and even if you didn’t come to me your faith could still heal you. I have nothing to do with this it is all the power of your faith in you.

The reason many people are not seeing as many miracles as in the olden days is that they have forgotten that they have residential faith. So they are always waiting for something to come from outside themselves. No wonder we move from prophet to prophet and church to church in search of something we already possess. Just like you don’t need someone to remind you that you are male or female. That is how it’s supposed to be when it comes to knowing what you can do with your residential faith.

That is why I am here to help you discover that type of faith and start using it. Brethren you don’t need a lot of faith to move your mountains you already have what you need. According to Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. We know that there are different types of faith with different ways to measure them.

For instance, the type of faith you use to walk on water as Jesus and Peter did in Matthew 14:22-33 is quite different from the type of faith you, use to call down fire from heaven like Elijah in 2 Kings 1:9-10.

Notice that James and John the disciples of Jesus in the Book of Luke 9:53-55 realize that they have in their resident faith the power to call fire from heaven and they are about to call fire, then Jesus stops them.

As for peter, he realizes that he had the power over water, and he could walk over it. So he activated it by speaking to the water ( Luke 14:28-29). But remember Jesus told him that he had faith to walk on water.

According to Mark 11:4-23, this resident faith is activated through a command you have to speak to the water, fire, soil, etc. Moses, Elisha, Elijah, Joshua, Jesus, and Peter, just to mention a few, who had discovered in their resident faith the power over water, and they could part seas, and rivers, use the same water to solve problems, and even heal people.

During the time of Moses, he parted the red sea (Exodus 14:16;21) since there were not enough ships or highways or bridges for the 3,000,000 people to use to cross over, but during the time of Jesus that wasn’t necessary instead the people in the wedding needed wine, so Jesus commanded the water to change to wine (John 2:1-11).

When I wanted to build our church, I looked at what Noah did with his measure of faith to build an ark and it worked for me also. Remember that God applies the same principle in different generations, for instance, the way Moses divided water is very different from the way Jesus did it. Moses formed mountains of water but Jesus formed a division between his feet and the water. It’s still dividing water but in a different manner.

We should not be lost in the titles and the lust for the things of this world we should think of great things like this.

Pastor Nathaniel.
