The Many Forms Of The Holy Spirit.

There are times we need guidance in one area or another and it’s at this point and time that we’re looking for that help but we might look for it in the wrong places. We might miss the Holy Spirit because he might appear to us in different forms

According to 1 Kings 19:10-13, We see that the prophet Elijah was in need of guidance as to what to do and he knew that the only one who could offer that guidance was God.

The only problem with the prophet Elijah was that he was a little bit impatient and unwilling to stand still and wait on the Holy Spirit, so he wanted a sign that God was there.

We might miss God’s leading because we want the Holy Spirit to present himself in a certain way, and that was the case with Prophet Elijah, he had seen God appear as fire just as the pillar of fire in the days of Moses (Exodus 13:21), and he had heard of how God appeared to Moses through an earthquake ( Exodus 19:18) so he was sure that God would appear in one of those ways but that was not the case.

Sometimes we might expect God to appear to us, in the same way, he appeared to others in the past and that is where the problem starts because we forget that we don’t own or control the Holy Spirit.

That is why we might find ourselves going to witches or false prophets who tend to say that they hear from the Holy Spirit but that is not true. Just like in the case of King Saul, in the book of 1 Samuel 28:6- he was used to seeing God lead them through dreams, urim, and through prophets but that wasn’t the case. As a result, he went to consult the witch, just because he didn’t hear from the Lord the way he wanted it to be done.

When the bottle is full of water there is no room for anything more unless you empty it first, so as to create some space for the new content. When we are full of ourselves and worldly things, we might have no space for the Holy Spirit and hence we might miss the guidance and the benefit of having him in our lives.

The reason Jesus told the disciples to stay in Jerusalem. The name “Jerusalem” occurs 806 times in the Bible, 660 times in the Old Testament, and 146 times in the New Testament; Jerusalem means “The Holy” or “The Holy Sanctuary” or “city of peace.” Jesus knew that they needed to empty the fear, doubt, and unbelief in their hearts and be like Jerusalem itself and then let the Holy Spirit fill them.

There are times you have to go to your inner Jerusalem so that you can connect better and also hear from the Holy Spirit. Daniel when faced with great difficulties he prayed facing Jerusalem not as a place but as a symbol of holiness where God resides because God is Holy and if you want to join him and receive his services then you must be holy (1 Peter 1:14-15).

Holy Spirit

We want to receive and even hear from God outside of Jerusalem and most of the time we end up missing him or not hearing from him and then we think God can’t hear us, that is not the case according to Isaiah 59:1-2.

John the Baptist can be our role model. He said, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). Our wills and our egos natures have to decrease, whereas the Spirit of Jesus within us has to increase. This is a continuing process. Little by little, Christ is being made bigger, and we are being made smaller.

When you invite Jesus Christ into your life he doesn’t enter you like a virus enters a person instead he comes and joins with the spirit of the believer. This is what is meant by the term “the indwelling Spirit.” His function is to reproduce the life of Jesus in the believer. He will manifest the fruit of the Spirit in the believer’s life.

The nine attributes of Jesus that develop in the life of someone who has been born again and who has been indwelt by the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

According to  Romans 8:14, the apostle Paul tells us that those who are led by the Holy Spirit are the sons and daughters of God.
