What is a Gate?

In the Book of Psalm 24:9 it says “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”

Every country, city, home or neighborhood has a gate. A gate can mean an opening as well as exit point, a barrier or a secret gathering, a place of assembly or a parliament, or in some other sense, it might mean power or dominion. A gate always limits, hinders and prohibits men from entering into their inheritance and blessings.

Types of Gates

1. The sheep gate (representing the apostolic)                              (Neh.3:1)

2. The fish gate (representing evangelism)                                     (Neh.3:3)

3. The Old gate (representing moves of the past)                         (Neh.3:6)

4. The Dung gate (representing deliverance)                                 (Neh.3:14)

5. The Water gate (representing preaching and teaching)         (Neh.3:26)

6. The East gate (representing the glory)                                         (Neh.3:29; Ezek.43:1-2)

7. The North gate, the South gate, and the West gate of the city.

Thus, a gate is a place of power where decisions are made. Gates as we have seen are spiritual doors used for attacking, defending, and even for waging. So whoever controls the gates controls the city. 

For instance, Daniel was a member of the Babylonian gate (court) – Daniel 2:48-49 while Mordecai was also a member of the Medio-Persian gate. There is also the gate of hell which is the house of assembly of hell, a place of the gathering of demonic powers.

There they meet to take a decision to launch their attacks on the Body of Christ and all other interests of God as individuals and all enemies of the Church have their seats at the gate. There is a group called the gates of hell.

In the Book of Matthew 16:18 When the Lord Jesus Christ said, “I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” What he was saying indirectly is that the assembly, dominion or the barriers of hell would not prevail against His Church. Let them be lifted and uprooted.

When God built a hedge around Job, which the devil could not penetrate. The enemy can be at the gate but the hedge built around you will not permit the enemies to touch you. It was only when the hedge was removed that Satan had the opportunity to penetrate. Satan attacked Job, his business, his health and killed all his children only because God removed the hedge.

Today we are going to pray against the enemies at the gate and we pray that God will destroy all the enemies at your gates in Jesus’ name.

Let us pray:

1. My Father! My Father! Before I begin to pray these prayers give me the strength and the right words to speak and anoint my tongue with the fire of the Holy Spirit to destroy the gates of hell in my life in Jesus name.

2. My Father! My Father! build a hedge of protection around me and my family. I pray that the enemies will not be able to penetrate through my gates in Jesus’ name

3. Through Christ in me, I exert my dominion over who and whatsoever is engaging with satanic gates to attack any area of my life in Jesus Name.

4. By the power in the Blood of Jesus I bind, rebuke, and destroy all the enemies that are standing at the gates of the career, business, life, and any other area of my life and trying to stop salvation from entering through those gates, in Jesus’ name

5. By the power in the blood of Jesus, I have overcome the gates of hell fashioned against my marriage,career, business, (mention your own case here) in Jesus Name

6. By the blood of Jesus, I break the backbone of coordinated attacks against me, and I command every agent of satanic gates to lose their hold over my finances, career, business, life, and any other area of my life now in Jesus Name.

7. My Father! My Father!  Help me to take control over the remaining days of this year and to reverse every problem fashioned against me and my family by these evil gates, to return back to sender in Jesus Name

8. By the power in the blood of Jesus, I exert my dominion over all forms of obstacles fashioned by satanic gates against me in Jesus Name.

9. After the order of Isaiah 45:1-3, let all the city gates be open before me; and let me go in and receive the treasures of darkness and hidden riches out of the secret places in Jesus Name.

10. Let the power in the Blood of Jesus close all the gates in my life of uncleanness, witchcraft, drugs, perversion, violence, wickedness and every evil work, in the name of Jesus.

11. By the power of the Holy Ghost, I command the evil gates to lift up their heads from today. I establish new gates which are gates of righteousness with the angels of God guarding them in Jesus’ name. I pray that the King of Glory will come into my home, into my city, and into this nation in Jesus’ name. 

12. Blood of Jesus fight for me and give me total victory against the ancient gates of darkness that are responsible for any delayed testimonies in my life in Jesus’ name. .

13. Gate of hell, hear the word of the Lord you shall not prosper in my life in Jesus name. Gates of good things, what are you waiting for, manifest in my life now in Jesus name.

14. I prophesy to every gate militating against my progress, prosperity, peace, comfort, and advancement in life to lift up their heads in the name of Jesus.

15.I prophesy to every ancient door and gate locking me out of my inheritance and blessings to open now in the name of Jesus
