My aunt had recently passed away, and when I was informed and invited to the funeral, I began preparations. I knew that my extended family was deep into tradition, and they observed many customs, so before I went to the funeral, I called pastor, and he immediately prayed for me and for the journey I was going to take. When I arrived, I didn’t expect to be greeted as warmly as I was because there had been family issues and feuds and many family members didn’t get along, but because of the prayer, I was treated like royalty and asked many questions. The funeral went on and I was asked if I wanted to join in a traditional ritual for the dead, but I sternly refused, and I said, “2000 years ago the garments of tradition were removed, and therefore today I will only accept Christ and not tradition.”
I am thankful to God for he received that prayer and my journey was safe, and through his power I refused to take part in traditional practices. I am very thankful to God.
