Brethren guard your hearts, protect your dreams, and be mindful of your actions. I know that most of us have things we treasure, whether they are prized objects, activities, or experiences. What we value most is what is closest to our hearts (Proverbs 4:23). But remember No matter how much a snake sheds its skin, It’s still a snake(Jeremiah 17:9). Always remember that God doesn’t change your situation or circumstances because he is trying to change your heart, instead:
JESUS CHANGES OUR HEARTS
You need Jesus to change you because, after all, only God can turn around any situation (Romans 8:28). I know sometimes you will miss your old self, your happy self, your bright self, your smiling self, your laughing self, and your gone self. Just remember that you can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.
The only time you should do that, for example: is when you look back to see how far you’ve come. The Bible forbids and says: “Anyone who puts his hand on a plow and looks back, is of no use in the holy nation of God.” – Luke 9:57-62. The worst thing you can do is become cold because of past experiences and ruin your future experiences.
Don’t give anyone your password to your heart, so that they can have the right to change what the lord put in there. Brethren ask the Lord for help. You may not know what sin lies within, but he does. Like David in the bible, you too can say, “Search me, O God, and know my heart … and lead me in the everlasting way” (Psalm 139:23-24).
The human heart in scripture signifies the seat of the affections, also of wisdom and understanding; it’s the center of a man’s being. Naturally, the human heart is evil (Genesis 6:5; Genesis 8:21); it’s deceitful and wicked (Jeremiah 17:9).
The words of our key-verse are spoken by Solomon, who is speaking within the name of wisdom; and wisdom is simply another name for the Lord Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:30). it’s the Lord Himself, therefore, who says to you and to me, “My son (or daughter), give me your heart”.
Notice three truths Hidden In 1 Corinthians 1:30:
2. Then there’s an INVITATION. “My son, give me…” The petitioner is God who is asking me to offer Him my heart, which really means myself, my whole being. The very fact that God seeks us out and then asks for our hearts, or our love proves His great love for us.
3. There’s also a REQUIREMENT. “Give me your heart”. No gift is suitable to God until we’ve given Him our hearts; if we pray, or give our money, He won’t accept these unless we’ve first given ourselves to Him (Proverbs 15:8; 28: 9). God wants our hearts, and he also wants us.
Why is this? In Ezekiel 36:26-28 we discover there are four reasons:
1. He wants our hearts so as to Exchange them
In Ezekiel 36:26 the Lord says, “I will offer you a new heart……I will remove from you your heart of stone”, this is often the message of the gospel, and if we ask why we’d like a new heart, the solution is that verse 25 tells us that our heart is unclean and verse 26 tells us that it’s hard and thus cold. In exchange, God offers us a heart that’s clean, true, tender,
2. He wants our hearts so as to Empower them
In Ezekiel 36:27 the Lord says, “I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and take care to obey my laws”.God gives us a replacement piece of machinery within but He also provides us with the facility to drive the machinery. We can’t be moved to follow His decrees on our own, but God will enable us to try to do this through the indwelling Person and the presence of the Holy Ghost.
This is often what the Christian life is all about; we cannot live it, but God says He will come and dwell within us in order for us to enter ways that
3. He wants our hearts so as to determine them.
In Ezekiel 36:28 God says,” You will eat and live in the land…” the first reference in these words is to Israel’s restoration. For years the Jews have been scattered over the world but the Bible promises that in the end, they’re going to all return to their own land. Our hearts are wanderers over the world and there has been nowhere to rest, but God says, ‘’Give me your heart and I will cause it to measure within the land; I will be able to establish it’’. the difficulty with our hearts is that
David knew the blessing of a steadfast heart (Psalms 57:7; 112: 7) –- something we’d like lately because of crisis, calamity, and fear! But there’s one more reason why we’d like to possess our hearts established: it’s mentioned in Hebrews 13:9. Notice that this verse follows verse 8! the rationale we have got a steadfast heart is because we are united with One who never changes, our Lord Jesus. If you havent done so, will you give your heart to the Lord to determine it?
4. He wants our hearts so as to complement them.
In Ezekiel 36:28 God says, “You are going to be my people, and that I am going to be your God” this is often too wonderful to be true because if I’m His and he’s mine, how rich I am! check out Ezekiel 36:29-30 and note that God promises to supply the corn, the fruit of the tree, and therefore the increase of the sector –- in other words, Philippians 4:19!
If you’ve not done so, will you give Him your heart, that He may enrich it?
It may be that you simply have little or nothing else to offer to the Lord –but you’ll give Him your heart. If you do that, He will exchange, empower, establish, and enrich it.
Lastly, let me leave you with a word of caution, always watch your thoughts because they become your words, then your words end up becoming your actions. If you don’t watch your actions they become your habits, which define your character and when your character is formed then it shapes your destiny.
