Since you got saved has the light changed you or you are still living in the darkness (a lifestyle of sin)? Examine yourself. Are you bearing any good fruit? If you are still in the darkness. Now is the time to repent and put your trust in Christ. Ephesians 5:8-9 “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of it. (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)”
How Bright Is Your Light?
Do we make our light dim to help lead the way, or do we blind people and run them off course by overwhelming them with too much of it? Remember we should be the light that helps others see and as we work to create it for others, we naturally illuminate our own way. Afterall John 9:5 says that “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
I know that it is hard, when God opens your mind to the truth, to not want all your friends and loved to understand that you know the Bible in a better way. Afterall the more of it you allow within you the brighter the world you live in will be. The question is do you blind your friends and loved and run them off course by overwhelming them with too much light from your new found Bible knowledge?
we should be careful to never cause harm other with what we share or force what we believe on someone else, and perhaps drive them away. Remember If you want to give light to others, you have to glow yourself.” After all Acts 13:47 says “For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” God is the one who does the calling, and how we live our lives and treat others should lead them to seek what we have.
You will be a light to others and shine so bright, that is why people look at Christians so carefully. This does not mean to act like something you are not or try to appear righteous to others. Glorify God not yourself. It means to be who you are. Even a little light makes a huge difference.
For example, if you spark a small candle in a house with no electricity at night. You will see that though the candle is small it still allows you to see in the darkness. You might be the only light someone ever sees. Some people are going to be able to see Christ through your light. People appreciate the little things because most of the time people don’t go the extra mile. According to the Bible in 2 Corinthians 3:2 “You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone”.
Let your light shine in everything. Being a light is the work of God conforming you into the image of Christ. You can’t try to be the light, it’s either you are or you are not . You can’t try to be Christian. It’s either you are Christian or you are not Christian. Remember stars don’t shine because they want to be seen. They shine because they are stars. You are star in the sky, shine yours on the path of others at your dark days to let them know ‘who you are
Matthew 5:14-16 says “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people turn on a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let yours shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Remember we can’t run with people who are in the darkness. we are no longer in the darkness. According to 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 it says “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?”
So, shine your light on their sins and they are going to say to you to stop judging them or they are going to avoid you. You are the light why do you think that you will be hated by the world? In the darkness and without the Lord their deeds are hidden. That is why they suppress the truth about God.
According to John 3:19-21 “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the it, and will not come into it or fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the it, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” Also Job 24:16 says “In the dark, thieves break into houses, but by day they shut themselves in; they want nothing to do with the it.”
when you start seeking the face of God you get closer to the light. When you start getting closer to the it you start to see more of your sins than ever before. Most Christians are not that close to the it. They stay at a distance so that the it doesn’t shine on their great sinfulness. When I first became a Christian, I didn’t truly understand how sinful I was. As I started to grow and sought to know God and be alone with Him, the light shined brighter and brighter and it showed me different areas in my life where I fell short in. (1 John 1:7–9).
This is why as believers we should walk in the light making us to continuously confess our sins (1 John 1:8). We must get closer to it, because when ours is bright, another person’s one cannot blind us. But if ours isn’t even on, anyone can be blinding. Ours should be so bright that we can walk up to another bright one and not be blinded.
Remember winners are not insulted by others winning. That is what losers do. After all there are various levels of brightness. Naturally, we aim to be around those whose watts are the same as our for comfortability. But what if you purposefully tried to be around those whose may at that time be brighter than yours?
Our Christian duty is to live in the light God gives (Ephesians 5:8). When we walk in the it, we cannot walk in darkness. Sin is left in the shadows as we let ours “shine before men” (Matthew 5:16). It is God’s plan for us to become more like Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:3).
“Walking in the light” means we consider Jesus as “the light” in this world, and we “walk” in it by following His precepts, living in His power, and growing in His grace. So, I ask you, how bright is yours?
