Introduction
Did you know that the most important stage in the construction of a building is the foundation stage? So, if you want a strong building, then you must spend some quality time and resources on the foundation stage. This will be put to the test when you are building the actual house; if the foundation is weak, then the house will collapse easily, and that means you can’t build that much.
Always remember that the deeper your spiritual foundation is, the higher your building can go. Nobody can rise beyond the height of his foundation. But remember, the deeper the spiritual foundation, the deeper you have to go to uproot things to create room for the foundation.
This process of digging and uprooting things seems like a waste of time, but without it, there can be no strong building. That is why you can’t be in a hurry when in the stage of laying the foundation of a building. Yes, it might be very expensive, but it is very necessary.
According to the Book of Matthew 7:24, we see that their was a wise man who built his house on the rock, and despite the harsh elements, it didn’t fall because its foundation was on the rock. On the other hand, we see a few verses down the line in the same book of Matthew 7:26, where a foolish man built his house on the sand, and the harsh elements beat it and crashed it, and it fell to the ground. If the foundation of a house is not strong, after a while, it might collapse.
So, you see, that foundation is very important. Our investment is hidden in our spiritual foundations. Remember that God was the first to lay a foundation of some sort on something, as we can see in the Book of Psalm 104:5. “Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed forever?” So, you see, God takes the issue of spiritual foundation very seriously.
If you have been praying for miracles, a life partner, marriage, or financial favor for a long time and nothing is happening, you must carry out a thorough research about your Spiritual foundation.
Most problems in our lives today are rooted in our spiritual foundation. The Bible has already made it clear to us that: “If the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3).
Anytime you see a crack in the wall, there is a problem at the root. One of the greatest areas nowadays Christians need is a serious deliverance in their spiritual foundation. There is no area where the wickedness of our father’s house and mother’s house has been pronounced more than in our foundation.
When the devil wants to attack a man, the first thing the devil does is to destroy his foundation completely. As soon as the spiritual foundation is affected, the destiny of that person will be full of failures, errors, struggles, and demotion.
What Is A Spiritual Foundation?
A foundation is something that exists in the physical or the spiritual world only, or in both. But remember that if there is a physical thing here on earth, then there is a spiritual one in the spiritual world (1 Corinthians 15:44–45). So always remember that what is done here on earth is also done in the spiritual world, “as above, so below” (Matthew 6:9-12 )
So, we can say that the foundation of someone or something is its source or beginning, origin, root or inherited traits, or character or its source of strength. The foundation of anything is the seat of that thing, which determines what will come out of it. Everything in life has a foundation. There is a foundation for your life, destiny, marriage, ministry, career, faith, church, and business. Everything you want to start needs a foundation to stand on. Whether you like it or not, you know it or not.
The higher a building can go is determined by its foundation, and so is your life. If you have a good foundation, you can go very far in life. You can’t go farther without a strong foundation. One’s foundation is the major reason why some succeed and some fail. Your spiritual foundation is very important in every area of your life.
Foundational problems are those problems that swallow you from the womb of your mother. Your foundation also contributes to the kinds of challenges that you may encounter. For example, “…The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.” (Jeremiah 31:29).
A foundation can carry several generations, as we see in Exodus 20:5–6, “…punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations.”
A foundation is very important in life, and foundational problems are real problems. It runs in your bloodline: “…As is the mother, so is her daughter.” Ezekiel 16:44. For example, the delay for Abraham to bear a child was a foundational problem right from his father, Terah (Gen. 1:12,14,16,18,20,22,26).
A foundation is a structure on which something rests. In spiritual terms, it is the background prepared for us by our ancestors. Unless changed, the results will remain the same always. When we talk about foundations, we talk about altars, shrines, strongholds, and blood pollution that are needed to build and sustain the altar.
So for someone coming from a lineage where they are idol worshipers, like Gideon, evil power from his family idol always puts him in bondage. We see this in the book of Judges 6:1-27: Gideon was limited by his evil foundation; until he destroyed it he was nothing. Our investment is hidden in our foundations. We always need to pray to the Lord to open our eyes to see what the enemy has invested in us.
