Why Does The Anointing Seem Not To Work Now?

Listen to this article

Anointing means to smear or rub with oil to protect, and The anointing is intelligent enough to know where to rest in and even who to go to. The anointing is not a game, and it can cost you a lot, so that is why you should first count the cost before you seek it (Luke 14:28).

Anointing rested on things and not people.

2 Kings 4:28-36 Why did the anointing of Elisha not work in the hand of Gehazi? Elisha was very sure that it will rest on his staff and Gehazi will use it but instead, it refused to rest on the staff.

2 Kings 13:21 You can see that everything including his dead body had anointing, that is why the dead man came back to life, when he came in contact with Elisha’s dead bones.

Sometimes the anointing might seek who to rest on and if it doesn’t find any worthy person it might then rest on a thing or it might refuse to rest on anything or anyone. Just like the anointing did not want to rest on David’s brothers and only rested on David (1 Samuel 16:9-13).

James 5:14 Is anyone sick call the elders to anoint him with oil? So is it the oil that contains the anointing or the elders? The elders. In short, the anointing rests on certain people and not others. Certain people become available carriers of the anointing. Some people are vessels unto honor (2 Timothy 2:20) and can carry more of this heavenly anointing.

Anointing can be stolen.

Let’s say you are not a vessel of honor and you either force or steal this anointing what will happen?

Matthew 9:17 Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” It would destroy you and even kill you in most cases.

In Luke 8:44-46 She came up behind Jesus and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. “Who touched Me?” Jesus asked. But they all denied it. “Master,” said Peter, “the people are crowding and pressing against You.”  But Jesus declared, “Someone touched Me, for I know that power has gone out from Me.”

In Acts 8:19-23 there is the story of Simon the Sorcerer who was strongly rebuked by Peter for thinking that the gifts of the Holy Spirit could be purchased. Brethren you can’t sell the anointing in any form be it oil, holy water, handkerchiefs, and many other “anointed” products are sold to church members with the belief that the purchase and use of such objects or products will attract God’s blessings, favor and protection. Selling of “Anointed” Objects Is a Form of Witchcraft and Idolatry.

Otherwise, how different will we be from the witches, who sell these things out there? Simply because other churches are are selling it don’t do it. Remember even in the days of Jesus others were selling these things and others were sellin in the house of God instead of going there to pray as said in Matthew 21:12-13.

Romans 16:18 says “For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.”

When tempted to sell out something belonging to God always remember that you can’t sell the Holy Spirit in whatever form. Always remember that according to Matthew 10:7-9 neither Jesus nor his disciples ever sold “anointed products” or healed people for money or favors.

God does not sell miracles. The gifts of God are for free, and God’s gifts and blessings cannot be bought or sold by anyone. In 1 Corinthians 12:8-11, We see that it is the Holy Spirit who anoints as he will and NOT a man. So, no man can give you anything unless it is given from heaven according to John 3:27. Remember all perfect and good gifts come from God (James 1:17).

The best case in point was Elisha when he wanted Elijah’s anointing Elijah said to him in the Book of 2 Kings 2:8-14, that when God takes him to heaven then heaven will transfer that anointing from Elijah to Elisha and NOT Elijah transfer it himself that is wrong.

In Matthew 10:41 a man who may be a prophet can decide to give you a gift of a job, business, etc but not anointing. He may be instrumental in you receiving the anointing, but he can’t give it to you he is not the Holy Spirit.

Our trust and faith must be directed towards God alone (Mark 11:22) and not towards objects.

anointing

Any material whether living or not can attract the anointing.

Acts 19:11-12 God did extraordinary miracles through the hands of Paul so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.

To receive the anointing is a process and it takes a lot of small activities here and there and all these increase capacity and prepare you to receive this new anointing. So, of these activities will be to close any leaks of this anointing.

God might require you to fast and even pray in a certain manner and even he might send you to associate with certain people all this might be part of the process.

Just imagine a lady who is pregnant and because of the discomfort she goes to the doctor after 3 months and says that she wants the doctor to inject her with a drug to speedup things, do you think its possible to get a drug to take care of those 6 months. Not at all, because it might mean the death of either baby, mother or both.

Always remember that you can’t bypass the process.

When you are in a hurry then the devil will even support your ministry and help you grow and when he wants to bring you down then he will do it with ease because he knows that God is far away from your ministry. There is wisdom you can’t get if you have not gone through the process. Trying to access something beyond your anointing level can destroy you if not get you killed. Always remember that anointing is in levels and you should know your level first.
