Toggle“As much as it is possible, live in peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18.
What Do You Mean By Broken Relationships?
A broken relationship is not just a disagreement or separation instead it is any damaged in a relationship that disrupts God’s design for love, unity, peace, and forgiveness. It can end up affecting your spiritual, mental, and relational life because God created people for healthy connection.
Sometimes the end of a relationship is the beginning of self-respect. Remember that some relationships end so that you can begin again with yourself. Distance sometimes saves what closeness destroys. Broken relationships can hurt deeply, but staying in what destroys you hurts more. People change and sometimes love changes direction with them. What breaks you can also teach you what you will never accept again. The relationship may have failed, but your future has not.
4 Examples of Broken Relationships In The Bible.
The following examples show that even godly people experienced relational conflict:
- Cain and Abel — broken by jealousy
- Joseph and his brothers — broken by betrayal
- David and Saul — broken by envy
- Paul and Barnabas — broken by disagreement
7 Causes of Broken Relationships
Many broken relationships in Scripture and life come from:
- Pride – refusing to humble oneself
- Offense – unresolved hurt
- Betrayal – broken loyalty or trust
- Miscommunication – misunderstanding words/intentions
- Jealousy/Competition – resentment over another’s success
- Unforgiveness – holding onto wrongs
- Sinful behavior – abuse, deception, infidelity, manipulation
5 Negative Effects of Broken Relationships
Broken relationships can lead to:
- Bitterness taking root
- Isolation and loneliness
- Difficulty trusting others
- Hindrance in prayer and worship when harboring unforgiveness
- Emotional wounds that affect future relationships
Brethren you need to remember that a relationship can be broken but it’s repairable; broken but it needs boundaries and lastly broken but it requires a permanent distance for safety and even health concerns. Always remember that when people leave, God remains faithful. Some endings are divine redirections. Rejection by people is not rejection by God.
