“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over…” (Luke 6:38)
This verse is not only about money—it is also about spiritual flow. Remember that when you give, God gives you back: direction, wisdom, strategy and revelation. For instance, in the bible in 1 Kings 3:4–13, Solomon gave a great sacrifice and God responded by giving him wisdom and understanding and this indirectly gave him wealth as we see in 1 Kings 10:23, King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.
INTRODUCTION: THE POWER BEHIND GIVING.
In the kingdom of God, giving is not just generosity—it is spiritual activation. Many people pray for miracles, but few realize that certain miracles are triggered, not merely requested.
There are moments when prayer opens heaven…But there are also moments when giving provokes heaven to respond quickly. Giving is not about loss— it is a spiritual transaction that provokes divine intervention.
GIVING IS A SEED THAT COMMANDS HARVEST.
“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest… shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22)
Every seed carries a prophetic voice. It is speaking even when you are silent. Remember that “The voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.” (Genesis 4:10) Just like Abel’s blood spoke after death, your seed also “speaks” after it is released. You never “lose” when you give—you only relocate your harvest.
To clearly Illustration This Point I will Use: The Farmer Principle
A farmer does not cry when he sows maize seed. Why? Because he understands: What goes into the ground is not gone. It is waiting to multiply because it begins a hidden process of multiplication. If he keeps all the seed, he has food today but no future harvest.
In the same way some miracles are locked behind seeds you refuse to release. A seed is a “posted miracle.” Your seed becomes a spiritual messenger that goes ahead of you into your future.
GIVING OPENS THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN.
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse… and prove me now herewith… if I will not open you the windows of heaven…” (Malachi 3:10)
God attaches windows of blessing to obedient giving. Did you know that Elijah had already built an altar and used it to Pray asking for rain, but giving opened the sky. In 1 Kings 18:30. He understood that heaven responds faster when an altar is activated.
GIVING PROVOKES DIVINE REMEMBRANCE.
“God remembered Noah…” (Genesis 8:1). Before God’s remembrance comes obedience, sacrifice, seed planting. For instance, Noah built for years without rain. But when God remembered everything changed at once. Some giving becomes a memorial seed that God remembers in due season.
For instance:
“Cornelius… thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.” (Acts 10:4). Cornelius was not only praying—he was giving. And his giving created a memorial in heaven. So according to the bible in Hosea 12:13 “…by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt…” So was the case of Cornelius gave alms, and a prophet (Peter) was sent to him and that also opened salvation to his household. Some people are remembered in heaven because of their generosity.
GIVING BREAKS LIMITATIONS AND DELAYS.
“Give, and it shall be given unto you…” (Luke 6:38). Many people live under delay not because God is unwilling, but because their hand is closed.
To clearly Illustration This Point I will Use: A Tap:
A closed tap holds water and produces nothing. Remember that water cannot flow in even if the source is full. But an open tap releases flow and never runs dry in use. So, lack in life is often not only a financial condition—it can be a cycle reinforced by withholding. Giving clears spiritual pipelines for flow. God does not increase what refuses to circulate. Some lives remain stuck because nothing is flowing out.
GIVING BREAKS SPIRITUAL STAGNATION.
“There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth…” (Proverbs 11:24). Stagnation is when life stops moving forward spiritually, financially, or emotionally. Giving is spiritual movement—it breaks stagnation.
To clearly Illustration This Point I will Use: The Dead Pond vs Flowing River
A pond collects but never releases becomes lifeless like the dead sea. But a river that releases constantly becomes powerful and full of life. Some people are not attacked—they are simply stuck and only giving can restart the movement.
GIVING CREATES SPIRITUAL MOMENTUM.
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap…” (Galatians 6:9)
Momentum means the more you move, the easier movement becomes. For instance, a stone is hard to push at first, but once it starts rolling it gains speed and it gathers speed as it moves forward. So is the case with consistent giving which helps build momentum for future breakthrough seasons. Brethren ask yourself us your giving been on and off or like this stone continuous.
GIVING ACTIVATES THE LAW OF MULTIPLICATION.
“He took the five loaves and two fish… and blessed, and multiplied…” (Matthew 14:19). We see that Jesus did not multiply what was stored. He multiplied what was released to him. God multiplies what you surrender, not what you hoard. Here we see that the miracle did not begin with abundance—it began with surrender. The boy gave what looked too small and Jesus made it enough for thousands in short, we see small seed + divine blessing = supernatural overflow
GIVING IS A SPIRITUAL WARFARE WEAPON.
“Honour the Lord with thy substance…” (Proverbs 3:9). In spiritual battles, giving becomes an act of honor that breaks resistance. Some battles are not won by shouting—but by sowing. For instance, just imagine a locked door: Prayer knocks the door but giving provides the key. Many believers keep knocking without realizing they already hold the key: obedient giving.
GIVING ATTRACTS DIVINE FAVOR.
“A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” (Proverbs 18:16)
Giving creates space where opportunities begin to locate you. There are rooms prayer introduces you to…But there are other rooms your seed unlocks. Your seed can speak louder than your resume. Some doors open not because you begged—but because your seed spoke for you. For instance, Joseph in Egypt. Joseph interpreted dreams (gift of wisdom). But Pharaoh elevated him after recognition of value. His “gift” made room for him in government.
GIVING MUST BE DONE WITH FAITH, NOT FORCE
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give…” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
God is not moved by pressure—He is moved by faith-filled obedience. “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:21). Giving reveals who truly governs your heart: fear or faith, money or god and control or trust. One of the hidden enemies of miracles is self-reliance.
To clearly Illustration This Point I will Use: The Full Jar
A jar already full cannot receive more liquid unless something is poured out first. So giving empties pride and makes room for grace. Reluctant giving blocks miracles. Faith-filled giving releases them.
For instance: Two people give the same amount:
- One gives with joy → multiplication why because an open hand can both give and receive.
- One gives with bitterness → stagnation why because a clenched fist cannot receive anything new.
The difference is not money—it is heart alignment.
YOUR SEED IS YOUR FUTURE IN EMBRYO FORM.
Every miracle you are waiting for may already be locked inside a seed you have not released. Remember:
- Prayer prepares you
- Faith activates you
- But giving positions you
“Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.” (Ecclesiastes 11:1)
HOW IT WORKS SPIRITUALLY PROVOKES MIRACLES.
- You need to identify a need or promise: For instance, financial breakthrough, healing and even an open door.
- You give intentionally: This can be either being in the form of money, offering, time, and even service of some kind.
- You attach faith and expectation: Not just giving randomly, but believing when you at the same time give.
- You wait for manifestation: Trusting God to respond in His timing without fail.
JACOB AND ANTICIPATORY GIVING (GENESIS 28:20–22).
After encountering God in a dream (the ladder reaching heaven), Jacob made a vow. What Jacob Said: He basically said: “If God will be with me… provide for me… and bring me back safely… then I will give a tenth (tithe) of everything to Him.”
Jacob committed to give before he had the increase. At that moment:
- He was running away
- He had no wealth yet
- His future was uncertain
Yet he said: “When God blesses me, I will give.” Jacob’s act combines three powerful elements:
1. Future-Based Giving: He pledged a tithe ahead of the blessing
2. Covenant Thinking: He connected his giving to a relationship with God
3. Faith Projection: He believed in a future he had not yet seen
How It Played Out For Jacob.
Later in life:
- Jacob became very wealthy (Genesis 30–31)
- God preserved and prospered him
- He returned safely—just as he believed
His giving vow aligned with his future outcome
Brethren just like Jacob if you are believing for a job, a promotion or even a new business then give an offering as a prophetic act of faith expecting financial breakthrough because you have been sowing seeds despite the current lack in your life.
EXAMPLE OF THIS PRINCIPLE OF GIVING THAT PROVOKES MIRACLES IN MY LIFE.
Our MTM Etwatwa church building had been completed but it needed a roof but there was no money in the church coffers to pay for the roofing and the rainy seasons were fast approaching when God put in my heart to do something about the roofing so as to save the church building. In short God was saying to me that for this money to roof my house and ask for me to do something.
So, I told the Lord I don’t know what to do because I had just lost my Job; then the Lord told me wait and nearly the same time, I got a call for a bank which offered me a surprise loan, so I felt peace to take it. But when the loan was approved my 2nd house which I had applied for with the bank was approved and this house would have required much money to renovate it.
So I was torn in between giving as agreed with the Lord and keeping it to do renovation on my 2nd house but a clear voice said to me give it to me now and I will immediately get the house approved today and that is what I did I bought those Church roofing materials with more that half of that money and the rest I paid the builders and sure enough the house was approved the same time.
God provided the money to renovate it through another channel which was not a loan and even God helped me to repay that former loan I used to roof the church through debt cancellation. So I ended up being debt free and blessed with the money for renovation of my 2nd house.
Prayers That Help Your Giving So As to Provoke Miracles.
1. Heavenly Father, I repent of every wrong motive in my giving; purify my heart and align me with Your will in Jesus’ name.
2. Let every spirit of stinginess and fear of lack in my life break right now by fire. let my giving open doors no man can shut, in Jesus name.
3. O Lord Jesus, let my giving provoke divine remembrance and sudden breakthroughs.
4. In the mighty name of Jesus, I break free from every ancestral pattern of lack and financial struggle through kingdom giving.
5. Let every cycle of financial disappointment end right now as I align with the principle of giving.
