Spirit Of Eliab: 15 Prayers To Overcome It Now

Listen to this article

But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry. “What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded. “What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!” 1 Samuel 17:28. Spirit Of Eliab

We see from this verse that when David came to the battlefield to bring food to his brothers. Instead of encouraging David, Eliab his oldest brother became angry and accused him wrongly. Eliab questioned David’s motives because he could not understand David’s faith. Eliab focused on the sheep; David focused on the giant. He was essentially saying, “Go back to where you came from.” Eliab was mocking and belittling David and he was refusing to recognize God’s hand on David’s life. No wonder that the loudest opposition to your calling may come from those who know you best.

According to Mark 6:4 “a prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and his own family.” As a result, people who have known you for years may have difficulty accepting who God is making you to become.

Hence, we attribute this spirit to Eliab, “spirit of Eliab” The spirit of Eliab attacks what it cannot become and criticizes what God has chosen. The spirit of Eliab judges by appearance, but God judges by the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7). The spirit of Eliab cannot recognize a king when he is wearing shepherd’s clothes. When God promotes you, the spirit of Eliab will try to pull you back to your past. When God places greatness in you, the spirit of Eliab will try to convince you to stay small.

Do not let Eliab’s criticism silence David’s courage within you. After all the spirit of Eliab tries to make you defend yourself when God is calling you to advance. The spirit of Eliab tries to distract you from your purpose through unnecessary battles. The spirit of Eliab questions your calling, criticizes your faith, and attacks your purpose—but it cannot stop what God has ordained.

According to 1 Samuel 17:30, “Then he turned away from him toward another…” David did not argue extensively with Eliab. David teaches us:

  • Don’t be distracted by unnecessary battles.
  • Stay focused on God’s assignment.
  • Refuse to let criticism stop your purpose.
  • Let God defend your reputation.

Many brethren overcome external opposition but become discouraged by criticism from family, friends, coworkers, or fellow believers. David defeated Goliath because he refused to let Eliab’s words stop him from fulfilling God’s purpose. Goliath was David’s public enemy, but Eliab was his private test. Before God removes the giant before you, He may first test how you respond to the Eliab’s around you.

Let’s Pray Against The Spirit Of Eliab.

1.Heavenly Father, I come before You and repent of every trace of jealousy, pride, envy, anger, criticism, and rebellion in my life. Wash me with the blood of Jesus and create in me a clean heart, in Jesus name.

    2. In the mighty name of Jesus, I renounce every spirit of jealousy and envy operating against my life or through my life. I command its power to be destroyed right now.

    3. Let every Eliab spirit operating through family members, friends, coworkers, or acquaintances to hinder my progress, lose your hold over my life in Jesus’ name

    4. Let the power in the blood of Jesus silence every spirit of Eliab speaking against my destiny, in Jesus name.

    5. Let every evil power that wants me to fight the wrong battles, be destroyed in Jesus’ name

    6. Let every evil spirit of sabotage attacking my ministry, career, business, or family, be defeated, in Jesus name.

    7. Let the power in the blood of Jesus, cancel every evil judgment spoken against my future, in Jesus name.

    8. Let every spirit of Eliab assigned to discourage me at the edge of my breakthrough, fall down and die in Jesus name.

    9. In the mighty name of Jesus, I command every spirit of comparison and competition, to depart from my life.

    10. In the mighty name of Jesus, let every evil power that is questioning my divine assignment as Eliab questioned David, be put to shame.

    11. Let every Eliab spirit working through close associates and friends, lose your influence over my life, in Jesus name.

    12. Let every battle against my confidence and self-worth, scatter in Jesus’ name

    13. Let every evil spirit that magnifies my weaknesses while ignoring God’s grace upon my life, be destroyed

    14. Heavenly Father, deliver me from being intimidated by the opinions of others. Help me to focus on Your voice alone, in Jesus name.

    15. In the mighty name of Jesus, I shall not abandon my divine assignment because of criticism or opposition. I will finish the race God has set before me.
