What is a MOUNTAIN in a believer’s life?
A mountain is a PROBLEM in a believer’s life and is anything that is adverse or contrary to the Word of God for your life. A mountain is anything that is a barrier to you completing God’s will and is anything that is slowing down or impeding your progress in the Kingdom of God.
What Is the Significance of Mountains in the Bible?
Mountains are mentioned more than 500 times in the Bible, and the reason for their mention is because they were the real places where encounters with God took place. Mountains have a logical religious symbolism for Jewish and Christian cultures since they are “closer to God,” who dwells in the heavens.
What Are Some of the Most Important Mountains in the Bible?
Mount Zion /Mount Moriah. It’s one of the most well-known mountains in Scripture because it is the location of the future Jerusalem. Most people go there to worship every year. Hebrews 12:22 says,“Instead, you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, with its thousands of angels.”
Mount of Olives. It’s here where Jesus went up to heaven, and He will return to this mountain again. Zechariah 14:4, “On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.”
Mount Sinai /Mount Horeb. It is here that Moses received the 10 Commandments from God. God actually came down to this mountain to meet his people. Exodus 19:11 says, “And be ready by the third day, because on that day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.”
Mount Ararat. It is here where Noah’s Ark rested after 150 days of battling the floods. The ark remained here for 40 days before Noah opened the window. Genesis 8:4-6: “The ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat on the seventeenth day of the seventh month.”The water kept going down, and on the first day of the tenth month, the tops of the mountains appeared. After forty days, Noah opened a window.”
Mount Nebo/ Mount Pisgah.
Mount Hermon/Mountain of Transfiguration. It’s on this mountain that Jesus was transfigured ( Matthew 17:1-9) in front of Peter, James, and John. Psalm 133:3 “It is like the dew on Mount Hermon, falling on the hills of Zion.” That is where the LORD has promised his blessing-life that never ends.”
Mount Carmel. It was at this mountain that God showed his power to the Baal worshippers by destroying their gods and 850 prophets. God used the prophet Elijah to accomplish this. 2 Kings 2:25 “Elisha went on to Mount Carmel and later returned to Samaria.”
Why Should We As Christians Pay Attention to the Mountains in Our Lives?
According to 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, “Kings are made, and not born.” Men and women of great influence in the Bible were people whose fear died a long time ago. We should be mad with what we see, and changes will happen. We learn from Ecclesiastes 9:2-3, that all of us face mountains in our lives. It could be something to do with your money, marriage, work, children, etc., and it doesn’t seem like there is a way to move this mountain out of your life.
Most of the time when we come across a mountain in our lives, what we do is pray, and even fast and sometimes we even plant seeds for it to be moved by someone other than us, it could be a prophet or a pastor, but we believe we are powerless to do it ourselves (Luke 22:42). No wonder most of the time nothing happens and we end up thinking that God doesn’t move mountains anymore. Mark 11:23 reminds us not to forget to speak to our mountains to move out of our paths.
Learn to curse the mountain you don’t like to see more of, and it will move. Bless the mountain you want to attract in your life. For instance Mountain of sickness, I curse or command you to be removed in Jesus name. Remember according to Luke 4:35 if you don’t talk to your mountains the mountain will talk to you. Your mountains talk to you by telling you how that sickness, joblessness, or poverty won’t leave due to this or that, so silence it or speak back.
Mountains are big and seem immovable just like some of our problems, you had that mountain of problems since you were young and now you are old. If you start speaking to them you will notice how easy it is for them to move away. Remind them that your God is bigger than them. After all, it was God who taught us to speak to situations. According to Genesis 1:2-3 , God saw that there was darkness and he spoke about what he wanted to see happen. Let there be light and it was. When you speak in faith something happens in the spirit world. Gates, chains, etc holding those mountains are removed.
When you say to that mountain of rebellion in your child you won’t stay, it leaves. It might pretend not to hear but keep talking to it in Jesus’ name and it will go at last. It might look like nothing is happening but behind the scenes, something is happening. Remember according to Mark 11:20-21, the fig tree Jesus cursed
Bible Examples Of People Who Spoke To Their Mountains.
- In David’s time, everyone was talking about the “mountain” called goliath, and how strong and experienced he was. No wonder the whole army was scared, and by the way, no one except David was talking about how his God is bigger than that “mountain” which they called goliath and that is how he defeated Goliath. (1 Samuel 17:45-46). David knew that if God is on his side who could be against him (Romans 8:31) no matter the size, experience, strength, etc
- In the Book of Zechariah 4:7 Zerubbabel spoke to his mountain and God turned it into a molehill, in short, it was moved to nearly nothing. The 3 mighty men of David who fought for him. (2 Samuel 23:8-12)
- Shammah fought a whole army ( No matter the size of the mountain) to defend a wheat field (2 Samuel 23:12
- Josheb-Basshebeth killed 800 men (his biggest mountain)at one time (2 Samuel 23:8)
- Eleazar fought until his sword was stuck to his hand ( and never let the mountain overcome him) (2 Samuel 23:10)
Example Of Mighty Men Of God Who Moved Mountains For God In Africa
Just to mention a few of these mighty men in Africa who moved great mountains in their own right and time:
Apostle Babalola. Apostle Babalola was a rare prophet operating in a different dimension thought synonymous with that of the Old Testament prophet Elijah. Christ Apostolic Church says he even did more miracles compared to prophet Elisha. He fulfilled John 14:12 The works I do he will do also, and greater works than these he will do.
He would suspend in the air in church meetings and people would see it. Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) believes that in any category you would put apostle Paul, Apostle Babalola should be there. So, you should not classify Peter as higher than Apostle Babalola according to Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).
Just as Paul challenged witches. Apostle Babalola went to a certain village and challenged all the witches there. He said to them to meet him at their shrine on noonday to see whose God was greater. He told them to kill him within 2 hours if they couldn’t, he would kill them (no one had ever confronted these witches and lived to tell the tale). They asked him who he was and if he knew what they could do to him,
After 2 hours he arose and called Jesus name, and its said that fire came from heaven like in the days of Elijah and consumed the tree where they used to worship. After the tree was burned to ashes then he lifted up his hands to heaven and said the miracle which happened to Korah and his friends is what he wants to happen to these men, so the earth opened and swallowed 3 of those men but one was left
Benson Idahosa
He sent Duncan Williams to the Nigerian president asking him to give him a TV slot on national TV. The president refused and asked mockingly who Idahosa was so he could listen to him. After Idahosa heard this, he said I dethrone him in one month’s time and if he is still there it means I am not a man of God. This president was killed within one month. Then when President J rolling took over, Idahosa sent Duncan Williams the same message but since President J rolling had heard what had happened he complied.
A lady refused to air Idahosa’s messages on TV. This made him travel there and declared that he would sack the lady(which meant he would make sure she got fired) and she got fired in a week’s time.
One day Idahosa had a crusade in one of the stadiums in Nigeria but because the Nigerian national team also wanted to use that stadium. They moved his equipment to another stadium, and when he heard this, he went on national radio and announced that there will be rain and thunder and the match wouldn’t hold. So, the government there begged him to forgive them and they even gave him better equipment than his previous equipment. So he reversed that and declared that the Nigerian team would win 2 – 0 and they did.
Abram M (My grandfather and my mentor)
I saw My grandfather who was called Abram M challenge a witch of a very high caliber and win even hough this witch had the power to do things. I have also witnessed a man who had entered a car but the car wouldn’t move until he came out its failure to move because of the charms carried by that man. I have also seen another man, when the cops went to arrest him the cop’s car won’t move an inch from his gate until they dropped the case against him.
After seeing what these mighty men had done I tried the same in Limpopo and Mpumalanga south Africa because history was there to back me and I won. Many witch doctors got saved and burned their stuff. Brethren learn from others to avoid their mistakes otherwise nothing is new on earth.
Have you ever thought or imagined what these Men in the Bible times did to move their Mountains?
Just to mention a few and what they did:
- Joshua in the Bible stopped the sun
- Elisha in the Bible called fire from heaven
- Moses in the Bible parted the red sea
Do you think they praised, spoke in tongues, or prayed or what did they do? Just imagine you first tell your mountain or your giant, to let you first go and pray in tongues and then you would come and fight it, and Just imagine Jesus telling his disciples and followers let me first pray in tongues for an hour and then I will resurrect Lazarus. In fact Jesus said to the mountain called death in John 11:41-43 “I thank you, Father, that you listen to me… Lazarus, come out”, Jesus did NOT PRAY, FAST, Or SPEAK IN TONGUES. ONLY 12 words and the mountain moved.
The world is full of mountains to be conquered but very few people are willing to try and do something although where they are is stuffy and unpleasuring, yes, they know at the top there is fresh air.
According to Ephesians 6:11-12, the Principalities will always try to stop you especially when you are trying to climb or overcome some of these mountains, remember each mountain is owned and protected and even empowered by this principality. For instance., the prince of Persia fought back by putting the mountain which spoke against Daniel (Daniel 10:13). So, expect a fight and remember Jesus won most of his battles in private. He used the mountains to help him grow in faith and not the other way around.
Remember when you start speaking the mountain will also speak back, and as you say it is written, the mountain will say what about this, remember the devil told Jesus that it is written, and he did not want to accept defeat.
Yes, you may tell a demon to go and it goes but when it comes to a principality you have to give it your best reasons as to why it should go. If you have started a business and the territorial battle has not been won then you can’t see the blessing or success.
When I bought my first piece of land from what I didn’t know was a witchdoctor, until I prayed and the trees in that piece of land dried then nothing was possible in that land including building and planting crops, The witchdoctor who sold me this piece of land had lost all his children but I lost none in that land.
If we are to continue where acts of the apostles stop in our churches then we won’t have the disco clubs traditional band style we are seeing in our churches today. No wonder the drama you are seeing in our churches today encourages people to come to church.
Sacrifices Of True Christians In Olden Communist Russia.
A story is told of how some 120 Christians were holding a secret night vigil when Russian soldiers stormed into that meeting and said that they would kill everyone who would not denounce Christianity. Unless they came out of the church with their bibles and went home, those left would be killed. so only 6 were left, the rest went home and then the soldiers said we are your fellow brothers and we wanted to get rid of those who won’t allow your prayers to be answered to go.
When God wants you to start moving mountains, he will move you first from your comfort zone to where you have to rely on him. It’s not easy to ask like in the cases of Jonah and Abram. A single person can make many other suffer if God is calling him but he is refusing like Jonah. If you refuse to grow then God might bring giants and mountains in your path to make you grow up. Jonah was not troubled by the devil but by God himself. Even in the case of Job God knew about it and approved it.
Some Christians refuse God’s agenda especially if they get what they wanted in life like a job, cars, etc so then God will come and panel beat them.
STORY OF A BACKSLIDDEN CHRISTIAN RETURNING TO GOD.
A certain man who was a serious Christian prayed to God to give him a job and after he got the job, he became so busy with life that he stopped praying and serving God. After several attempts to get him on the right track failed. Then God stepped in, and one day when he locked the office where he used to work and went home with the keys. He came back to the office the following morning to find that everything was gone.
So, then the manager came and called him into his office and told him, “I know you used to pray and even preach to us so I am not sure if it was you who stole those things, so I am giving you 3 days to bring back the stolen goods otherwise you face a jail term because you were the only one with keys and there was no break in.”
Then this man went on a 3-day dry fast and sought God so on the third day very early in the morning God spoke to him in a dream and told him that it was one of his colleagues who had committed the theft and that he would make him confess to the manager of having a spare key and it was him who had stolen the goods. ONLY if he agreed to serve him faithfully. God used this one incident to shake him back to the right position. Remember that students won’t study if there is no exam or mountain of life.
Most of us can’t make any meaningful progress without pressure from somewhere or a big mountain to overcome. No wonder the disciples were scattered from Jerusalem to other parts of the world through a mountain called persecution For instance, Thomas went to India and preached the gospel. But before the disciples accepted to go, James had been killed and when they were about to kill peter, it was when the church prayed for peter and he was released from prison by angels.

- cut down on your Tv time, media time, and even WhatsApp time
2. cut down the time you use for gossip, chats
3. Start fasting 1-3 days start partly then try dry
4. Reduce all forms of pleasure.
