Bible people fell forward on their knees or face. Every time when that happened (about 30 times) the results were good and profitable.

Here are the main verses from Scripture showing people falling to the ground whenever God would manifest His presence to different people.

That was mostly a conscious act: “Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him” (Gen. 17:3).

It was also a traditional way of greeting and a form of showing respect when people bowed down before their king, or slaves subjected themselves to their lords. It was also a sign of humbling and showing respect and fear to a holy God – Peter who fell down at the knees of Jesus (Luke 5:8),

In ancient times it was the most natural thing to fall on your knees or face to take on a position of prayer or honoring someone. It was in no way associated with fainting or incoherent talk. In Matt. 2:11, the wise men “fell down and worshipped [the Child]”. 1 Cor. 14:25 refers to a member of a congregation, “falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among [us].”

“… that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.” (2 Chronicles 5:14)

The word stand means that they felt unqualified or unable or unworthy. They could not stand to minister. This has nothing to do with falling down or falling out and losing control

• Jesus said to them, “I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. Then when He said to them. “I am He,” – they drew back and fell to the ground.” (John 18:6)

The problem here is the ones who fell to the ground were there to kill Jesus. This falling to the ground was a sign of judgment and God’s power over them.

• “And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.” (Revelation 1:17)

This is an act of prostrate worship, clearly an act of fearful adoration. Jesus said, do not fear this is not a falling out and losing control.

• “And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid.” But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” (Matthew 17:6)

The disciples made a conscious decision to fall to the ground in fear and an act of worship. They did not lose control and fall out. And Jesus spoke to them and said, Do not fear you may stand.

• “And as he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” (Acts 9:3-4)

This is an act of judgment upon a man who was killing Christians. Certainly not a filling of the Holy Spirit and falling out.

• “So I arose and went out into the plain, and behold, the glory of the Lord stood there, like the glory which I saw by the River Chebar; and I fell on my face.” (Ezekiel 3:23)

. This is at the physical manifestation, the presence of the throne of God himself. And it was a conscious act of worship by Ezekiel. He was in total control the whole time.

• “Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face.” (Numbers 22:31)

an act of judgment upon a disobedient man, an angel with his sword drawn, ready to strike him dead. Not an act of the filling of the Holy Spirit.

• “And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His glory. It was like the appearance of the vision which I saw – like the vision which I saw when I came to destroy the city. The visions were like the vision which I saw by the River Chebar; and I fell on my face.” (Ezekiel 43:2-3)

the physical manifestation of the throne of God to the Prophet Ezekiel and a conscious act of worship on a Ezekiel part

• “Then He brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple; so I looked, and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord; and I fell on my face.” (Ezekiel 44:4)

the physical manifestation of the glory of the Lord. The context is clearly an act of willful falling down to worship. The Lord gives explicit instructions to a completely conscious Ezekiel. This is not the falling out and losing control of oneself as manifest in the modern charismatic.

• “And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. 3 And his appearance was like lightning, and his garment as white as snow; 4 and the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men,” (Matt. 28:2-4).

Arguments Against Being Slain in the Spirit

The Christians who argue against this phenomena really being from the Lord base their arguments on the following reasons:

• Every time people fell when the presence of God would manifest, they would always fall on their faces, not fall backward.
• Nowhere in the Bible do the prophets, the apostles, or Jesus Himself ever lay hands on someone and then the power of God comes through their hands to knock them backward.
• The only time people fell in the presence of God was when God was rendering some type of judgment.

Did the disciples at the upper room fall down?

God is holy so is holy spirit in his very nature so we can’t please him by doing un holy things

Do you think God would go against his word or allow anyone to do this?

1 Corinthians 14:40 – Let all things be done decently and in order. Psalms 37:23 – The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 1 Corinthians 12:12 – For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also [is] Christ.

During Genesis 6:1-6 Demons started it by inter marrying with men so even more rebellion to God eg tower of babel

why are these manifestations so similar to Eastern religions and Hinduism and the Kundalini cults?, they’re not found in the Bible, they’re not found in classical Christianity at all.

In Hinduism, one of the most common ways of experiencing a Kundalini awakening is through a guru placing his hand upon your forehead. This is called Shakti part. And when they do that, you’ll be infused with this incredible love and this wave of emotion. You’ll fall down, there’ll be all these manifestations may be animal noises, joy and weeping and shaking. And amazingly, it is exactly the same as what we have been seeing.

Francis MacNutt is an ex-Catholic priest who received a very powerful healing ministry from the Lord. He noticed that this phenomenon would occur quite often whenever he would lay hands on people for their healings. He said some of the actual healings that came through his ministry occurred when people were resting in the Spirit after he had initially laid hands on them

I’ve heard of people who couldn’t control themself to control. they kept on laughing. That was a demons. According Galatian 5:23 God gave you fruit of the spirit is self-control, If you can’t control yourself, laying down there and you can’t do anything that is not the Holy Spirit. Kundalini is like a false Holy Spirit. Hindu version of the Holy Spirit it’s not holly It produces even miracles and healings, infusions of love and power and energy and emotion and all these kinds of things.

Those who believe in a demonic oppression version of kundalini reference those effects. They then extrapolate the existence of a unique demonic entity, “the kundalini spirit,” or “the spirit of kundalini,” which is most often associated with ostentatious spiritual experiences. Some believers in this “spirit of kundalini” point to practitioners of holy laughter, drunkenness in the Spirit, or being slain in the Spirit as being under its oppression.

what happens to a person when they have a Kundalini awakening.

They have a strong feeling of euphoria or love. They they they just mean they just love everybody all of a sudden. they go into shaking, jerking and convulsing. have psychic or prophetic visions start repeating mantras. profound transformation of consciousness or spirituality  long emotional upheavals They also have a trance like state that they get into and a loss of consciousness.

The functions of the “spirit of kundalini” as held by one person might entirely overlap with the behavior of other spirits, given names such as Leviathan, Python, or Jezebel, or assigned categories such as “water spirits.”

Could it be that what we call today moves of God and a lot of these churches that we’re seeing, could it be that all that’s happening because there’s a fake spirit masking itself as the Holy Spirit in these churches today?

Satan is trying to make make false religion look like true religion. What Satan will do is he’ll take something like Kundalini yoga, he’ll call it the Holy Spirit.

WHY DO CHRISTIANS FALL OVER WHEN SOMEONE TOUCHES THEM CALLED SLAIN IN THE SPIRIT

is being slain in the spirit biblical. note that the words slain in the spirit are not in the Bible, but that in itself does not disqualify this phrase from accurately describing a situation. Being slain in the spirit is what some explain as a situation when someone is supposedly overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit and faints or falls down and physical powerlessness. This usually occurs when some anointed church leader puts their hands on people’s foreheads, blows on them, yells fire. Or, in the case of Benny Hinn, waves his jacket at them.

It is primarily practiced in Pentecostalism, and generally takes place during church services, healing services, conferences, or “revivals.” What usually happens is that an “anointed” pastor or leader, “full of the Holy Spirit,” touches someone (usually on the forehead), and the power of God that “flows” that out of that pastor/leader is so overwhelming that the person they touch cannot stand, and they fall backwards. Many report that they feel like they have been “struck by lightning,” or feel “warm all over” when this happens.

WHY IS SLAIN IN THE SPIRIT NOT OF GOD

It hadn’t occurred to us that God would throw a massive party where people would have holy laughter, rolling on the floor, cry. shaking, uncontrollable laughter, imitate dogs and other animals during the service ,hands on fire, the fire of God falling on people , visions, dreams, prophecies, healing. Some people were so overcome physically by God’s power they had to be carried out. drunken men and women on the stage

Physical symptoms that accompany these experiences are severe shaking, electric-like surges, the loss of physical strength, labored breathing, fluttering eyelids, trembling lips, the seeming appearance of oil or gold dust on parts of the body, uncontrolled laughter, a feeling of drunkenness, nausea, vomiting, complete disorientation, mystical visions, audible voices from the spirit world, the absence of pain, a feeling of weightlessness which makes you jump up and down, a feeling of heaviness which causes a person to reel to and fro and fall down on the floor, shouting and the making of various animal noises.

Some of these manifestations also occur at the services of TB Joshua in Lagos, Nigeria. One of them is vomiting in the Spirit. He teaches that the evil and spiritual impurities hide in a person’s stomach, and that vomiting during a service can remove it. Some of the objects that come out resemble pieces of stone, shells, worms and blood.

 Some lose consciousness, but most remain conscious (but still fall), so several “catchers” are usually placed behind them so they won’t be hurt when they fall. Those who are conscious can display any number of reactions (i.e. seizures, great peace, laughing uncontrollably, crying, speaking in tongues, even barking like a dog…). This can go on for minutes, or even hours. Benny Hinn calls it “God’s operation table.”

Just imagine people go prepared incase something happens

People to stand back to hold people so that they don’t get hurt

So jesus would have need more people to hold those thousands of people following him

And why don’t we hear of this during jesus time

Meaning of Slain in the Spirit

The charismatics have named this phenomenon as being “Slain in the Spirit.” Some people call it “Falling in the Spirit” or “Resting in the Spirit.”

In some charismatic denominations, a preacher places a hand on someone, forehead, the person falls backwards or collapses. Being overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit.Also animals can be slain

I Saw a clip of a person who knocked down a kangaroo which was restless and claimed that it was slain in the spirit.

Does the Bible support this type of thing?

Those who believe it does generally use verses that show people “falling” to the ground in response to some act of God to support their position. Among the most prominent verses used are: (Jn 18:6)(Acts 9:3-4,8)(Mt 28:2-4)(Rev 1:17)(Mt 17:5-7)(2 Chr 5:14)(1 Kin 8:11).

     However, if you look closely at these, or other verses used, it is pretty easy to see that they really don’t offer much support for this practice. For example, if you look at the first two verses, it is ENEMIES of God who fell, not believers. In the 3rd verse, they “became like dead men” at the appearance of an ANGEL, not God. In the last two verses, when it says “the priests could not stand to minister,” it is not saying the priests “fell over,” it is saying that they were unable to minister inside the Temple because it was filled with the “glory of the Lord.”

     In fact, I actually looked at every place in the Bible where the word “fell/fall” is used. Here are some important things I found.

1. There is NOT ONE place in the Bible where people ever “fell” in response to God working through a human (including Paul, Peter, and any other disciple). No one fell as a result of their “anointing” or healing.

2. When people in the Bible “fell,” they almost always fell “forward,” on their faces. In only one verse (Jn 18:6) does it show people falling backwards.

3. The people who “fell” did not plan to fall. It was not an “experience” they were seeking, and more often than not, it was not a pleasant experience (see: Rev 1:17, Mt 17:5-7).

4. When people “fell,” it was in response to seeing God in some way, seeing something God did, or something God showed them. Or, they fell on their faces in prayer, worship, or thanks.

5. NO ONE ever fell in response to “having hands laid on them.”

6. Not ONCE did anyone “fall over” when Jesus touched them, or healed them. (If they didn’t fall at the hands of Jesus, who was more “anointed” and “full of the Spirit” than anyone in history, why are people falling today?)

7. Those in the Bible who fell never needed “catchers.”

     There are many stories out there of people who have been involved in this practice, and then gotten out of it. Nearly all admit that they “fell” on purpose because one of several psychological factors were at work:
Peer pressure, falling because it was expected.
Falling because they desperately wanted to have that “experience” others were having.
Falling so they didn’t make the person laying hands on them look bad.
Falling so they didn’t seem less spiritual.
Falling because they gave in to the power of suggestion.

I do want make this clear though. I am NOT saying that people cannot “fall” to the ground because they are “overwhelmed” in some way by God. I have read that some of the most respected ministers in history such as Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley, George Whitefield, and others have reported people falling to the ground in their meetings.

The problem is not about “falling” in response to something connected with the power of God. It is about the WAY this is practiced in so many places today. Making the experience a “show,” usually on stage in front of thousands. Placing more focus on the “anointed” minister than on God. Manipulating people’s emotions to get a response. And, most importantly, saying the Bible supports what is being done.

     In (1 Cor 14:40), when Paul is giving instruction for worship within the Church, he says “all things must be done … in an orderly manner.” Individually, we are told to be “self-controlled and alert” (1 Pet 5:8). Self-control is a “fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:22-23). Being “Slain In The Spirit,” in an altered state of consciousness, seems to run contrary to these Bible commands.
