Christmas: Why It Has lost Its Meaning To You Now

Has Christmas Lost It Real Meaning?

Did you know that even the world, as well as most Christians, have forgotten the real meaning of Christmas and its original tradition? As a result, we see that the world has introduced so many changes and inclusions that they no longer have a Christmas holiday, but another thing that keeps on changing its name. People end up calling it by this name this year, and then a couple of years later they call it by another name. For instance, in the earlier days, it was called Christmas, and that continued for a long time. The central focus was the birth of Christ and what that meant for us, humanity.

But after a short while, most of the world got tired of this name and what it meant, and then they introduced a more inclusive character who is more appealing to the secular world. Who does not need a redeeming Christ but a superhero-type Christ called Santa Claus?  Most of this rebellious generation is only after what they can get from him (similar to the gifts Santa gives) and not what they can offer him.

They replaced the three magi who gifted Jesus with gifts with Santa, who gives us the gifts that are supposed to be given to Jesus as a form of worship. All he wants you to believe is that he keeps flying with his rainy deer up in the sky carrying a bag of goodies to give to children, instead of your Jesus, who can’t fly and can’t give you any gifts because he is a poor baby lying in a manger.

Most of our youngsters don’t even know what Christmas means or how to celebrate it correctly. The reason for this is that they were not taught properly by the church or their parents, and as a result, they are learning from the media platforms, and most of them are biased in their reporting for fear of being banned for their opposing views.

In short, in modern-day Christianity, Christ is stripped of all his divinity and deity and made to look like an ordinary human hero. They wanted us to believe that you don’t have to offer Christ anything as a form of worship. You don’t have to take Christmas Day seriously; instead, it is just another celebration in which you can partake even if you don’t believe in Christ or even if you are not a Christian, and that is why it was important to remove anything that would offend people of other faiths. So now, “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?” (Romans 6:1).

No wonder today’s Christmas is taken as a day to visit friends, go to the mall, do shopping, and even eat and drink. Just as in the days of Noah, where people were just having good times with no need to take God seriously, and then came destruction, mentioned in Matthew 24:37–38,. God offered them salvation, but they chose otherwise, and hence they perished. So, choose wisely.

If you visit the malls and other places of entertainment, you will be shocked at how much they have drifted from the true Christmas spirit and have been plagued by another dark spirit, causing them to change the phrase “Merry Christmas” to “happy holiday” or happy festive season or complements of the season or Xmas. Christmas is supposed to be Jesus’s birthday, but his birthday is never even mentioned, as you can see.

We see that according to 2 Timothy 3:1–3, the bible reminds us that in the last days, people will only love the things that benefit them, even if they don’t. Please God.

How Companies Make Profits Off Of Christmas

When you come to think of it, this holiday thing only benefits the large companies and organizations like Coca-Cola and Hollywood that have products to market during the festive season. These companies are at the forefront of changing the outlook on Christmas and how we celebrate it. These companies promote their products heavily around Christmas because when kids see them, they will beg for them, and the companies will make huge profits from their newly loved products.

Have you ever noticed that as early as the month of July, big companies tend to bring up Christmas one way or another?

Did you know that the kind of Christmas we used to celebrate in the olden days is different from what you see nowadays? Today, one can easily say that Christmas is losing its Christian roots more and more each year. Most of the old traditions have changed, and more and more people participate in the new kind of Christmas. Let me warn you: yes, you might go ahead and change everything about Jesus’ birth, but just remember that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever (Hebrews 13:8), So he is God, and we can’t change Him because He doesn’t change even if we change (Malachi 3:6)

When others are celebrating what they don’t know and who they don’t know (Acts 17:22–23), we should thank God that we understand very well who we celebrate on Christmas day so join me in celebrating the birth of our redeemer, Christ Jesus (John 4:22). Ask yourself whether the birth of Christ means anything to you today. If you have not let Him be born in your heart, let him be born today and you will never regret it just like the wise magi’s!

Yes, we might agree we will never know exactly when Christ was born and don’t think that it’s of great importance as to when Christ was born, because if it was of great importance then at least Jesus would have celebrated one of his birthdays or even the disciples who were closer to him would have mentioned something to that effect.

What is more important is that Christmas should be a time to share with others what the lord has blessed us with. It should be a time to self-reflect to see how close we have come or how far we have gone from our beloved master Jesus.

There are some people who are out to defend Christmas with everything they got for instance, In 2017, U.S. President Donald Trump launched a campaign to bring back the religion to Christmas. “For Christians, this is a holy season, a celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Trump said. “Whatever our belief, we know that the birth of Jesus Christ and the story of this incredible life forever changed the course of human history.”

A 2017 survey by polling company Rasmussen Reports noted that 68% of American adults believe Christmas should be more about Jesus, with only 18% thinking it should be more about Santa. Whilst some believe in this sentiment, America’s unique religious conservativism calls for us to consider the bigger social picture. Over half of the UK say they have “no religion” whilst a survey noted that most British families only go to Church on Christmas Dayonly 3% of young people share this sentiment.

The Christmas season is the reason for the existence of our Christianity and without it we are nothing and everything lacks meaning. So, let us enjoy our Christmas through sharing just as Jesus did.
