Extra Big Things Are Done By Big God Now

Listen to this article

Introduction.

Life is interesting. Sometimes you can go along for months, even years, at a normal pace, keeping basically the same routines, without any noticeable big thing happening in your life. Everything seems fairly predictable, perhaps even small and boring to the other people. Then, out of nowhere, in the middle of your small life, amazing things happen that leave you speechless. I had a few days of big things recently.

What Is The Size Of Your God?

To some people the size of their god is too small that he or she can fit inside a thing like a pocket or a bag or even worse of inside a small ring or inside a small locket. If your god can fit in a thing or a space, then he is too small. Almighty God is big even all of the heaven can’t contain Him (1 Kings 8:27).

God is infinite, while everything He created is finite. So, when they ask for anything, they are very careful not to offend their small god. Now wonder their small god gives them so many impossible tasks to accomplish before he or she can do anything for them.

How Big Is Your God?

Is he big enough for your problems? Is he big enough for your future? Is he big enough for your pain? Is he big enough for your fears? Is he big enough for whatever you’re facing? If he isn’t, maybe you should substitute him for the God of the Bible.

Why Do We Say That Our God Is So Big?

“Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him” (Psalm 115:3). That’s pretty clear, isn’t it? The Lord of the universe does whatever he pleases. Whenever I read this verse, I want to say, “Any questions?”

we serve a God who can do immeasurably great things, more than all we could ask or imagine. We know this to be true. We read about seas parting and water flowing from rocks, oil, flour, fish, and bread lasting longer than feasibly possible. But do we believe we can ask the same God we’ve read about to do the same for us?

“I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2).

God is all-powerful, he does what he wants, and no one stands against him. It was this confession that led Job to a deep repentance for his foolish questioning of God’s plan. Job in the bible realized that God, “…stands alone, and who can oppose him? He does whatever he pleases” (Job 23:13).

What Does God Say About Asking For Big Things?

There are three times in the bible were Jesus clearly urged us to, “Ask Big! “When you read through these bible passages, they place a blank cheque in our hands to ask big. They are:

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” – John 15:7-8
“…Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” – John 15:16.
“And I will do whatever you ask in my name . . . You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” – John 14:12-14.

Do we give ourselves the freedom to ask God for big things? Or are we holding back?

why don’t we ask for big things more often? We only ask for the normal things. Why? It’s because we have a poverty mentality, we don’t think we are worthy, we do not have enough faith, we believe that we are not the original 12 apostles, and we have not even raised the dead yet . . . How can we ask for “anything”?

Although the Bible is full of stories of God’s miracles. Of lepers and blind men being healed, of people raised from the dead, of children born to barren mothers and fathers.

It’s easy to think the days of miracles are over. Mountains aren’t moving. Bushes aren’t burning. Food isn’t falling from the sky. We just have to remember we serve a big God who can do infinitely more than we could ask or imagine. We just have to stop limiting him and give ourselves the freedom to ask for those big things.

When we hold back our requests, when we pray for things that are safe, easy, likely to happen anyway, things that we may even control ourselves, we are limiting God and, in turn, limiting our faith. We do this for a lot of reasons. We are scared – of not getting what we ask for, and, sometimes, we are actually scared of getting exactly what we ask for.

One of the greatest limits to what God can do in our lives is comparing ourselves with the wrong people. The latter part of 2 Corinthians 10:12 says, “…But they are measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

This isn’t saying that we can’t be inspired by seeing what God is doing in others. Paul was a giant by whom we should be inspired. Paul took the limits off of God by realizing that he served a big God and literally changed the world. He wrote half of the books of the New Testament.

You cannot see anything happen on the outside that you haven’t seen happen on the inside. You might be praying for your marriage to be restored, for your body to be healed, or for financial prosperity, but you need to meditate on the Word and let it paint a picture on the inside of you. Then whatever you’re believing for will come to pass. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Your life today is the way you have been seeing it (Proverbs 23:7). You might not like that, but it’s true.

We take great comfort in passing the blame sometimes: “You don’t understand. I don’t have the education. It’s my spouse. It’s the color of my skin. I was abused as a child.” We have a million and one reasons, but none of these external things are controlling our lives; it’s the way we think in our hearts that determines the direction we’re going. Most of us don’t have any problem imagining a big God who does big things. In fact, we prefer it that way. Our problem seems to be believing in a big God who does big things for us.

Because no matter the result, no matter God’s answer, when we ask God for big things, we are exercising our big faith. We are opening our arms wide and welcoming whatever is his will to give us. We are humbling ourselves, relinquishing our own little bit of control, and trusting that God’s plan for our lives is better than our plan.

A big God who is able. Able to see our need. Able to hear to our cry. Able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or think. An unlimited God limited only by us.

Biblical references to Our Big God and His Great Works

The Book of Deuteronomy 1:11. Which says God has even promised to bless us a thousand times more. And I pray you will do it for us in Jesus name. Brethren, our God is a big God. We worship a very big God, with big things in plan for us,.

Our God has done great things in the past and will do great things now and great things in the future. So why are you refusing to accept your position? Why are you refusing to believe that God said we are created in his image?

In short, we are God’s sons. We are gods on Earth, according to Psalms 82:6. If God was in your position, if God was having the problems you’re saying you have, do you believe God would fail? He will never fail because he’s too big to fail. Our Big God’s plans for us are to increase us, to take us to the next level, to take us higher than where we are now.

We are believing so small for us and he’s saying, come up, come up to the notch where I am, a level where God lives and anything and everything is possible, great things are always possible (Luke 1:37).

Remember,” …what eye has never seen, what no mind has conceived…”(1 Corinthians 2:9). That’s what our big God wants for you in Jesus name. You might have seen some goodness, some nice jobs, some blessings here and there. But God is saying, your latter days will be better than whatever you have ever conceived, whatever you have ever seen. And that’s what Job believed in Job 8:7.

So, from today, let us refuse little dreams, small time goals here and there, small time blessings here and there. Let us leave those limited mindsets and go for a Godlike mindset.

One of the great ways our big God reveals His will to you is through your desires. “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalm 37:4

What Is It That You Really Want To Do?

If there were no limits—if money wasn’t a factor, if age didn’t matter, if God gave you supernatural ability—what is it that would really make you feel like you are making a difference? If you are truly delighting yourself in the Lord, then that desire you have is from the Lord. Go for it.

You won’t get there in one step. But take the first step toward that desire, then take the next step and the next. Before you know it, you’ll have moved a long way from where you are now and much closer to where God wants you to be.

I’m encouraging you to stop limiting what our big God can do in your life. Give Him something to work with. He can only bless what you set your hand to (Deuteronomy 28:8). I tell you, if you catch the fire for God, the whole world will come and watch you burn. Everybody loves a fire. It captivates people. And people will be drawn to you once you step out in your purpose. Don’t be afraid to try something different.

Story Of A 63 Year Old Who Won A Marathon.

One day in one of our services, after we had finished the service, I was praying for people in the prayer line, and one lady came, a lady of 63-year-old came and told me, Pastor, I need you to pray for me. I asked her, what do you want? She told me, Are you sure if we pray, something will happen? I told her, Ask anything.

Our big God is capable of doing anything if you only believe. And she told me, When I was a little girl, I used to run marathon. I want to go back and win. And I told her, wow, if you believe I too, I asked her again just to be sure do you believe you can do it?

She told me, I believe. I told her I also believe. Because the Bible says in Matthew 18:18-20, wherever two or three. Are gathered in my name there I AM and Whatever they agree, shall be done for them. The next time I saw her, she was beaming with joy. She had won one of the marathons, and she was also featured in one of the South African television networks called SABC TV.

The next time, when she came to see me, she told me, I want to win more. She went ahead to win another three more marathons. She was flying with planes, and even going from one function to another, and she was even recognized by the Department of Sports and culture in South Africa.

What is it you want to see God do it for you? If a 63-year-old could go back in time and recollect her dreams and achieve them, you can achieve anything. You don’t need to think about it. Just mention it and God will do it. To Jonah in the bible, he thought the only means of transportation was a ship.

But to God, he had other plans. Even a whale is a form of transportation. Our big God can do great things. Just believe it. Stop overthinking, which is leading to the doubt. Oh, I’m not sure my age, my this and that, my time. I can’t stop overthinking, just believe it. God is saying in Isaiah 54:2, Enlarge your thinking, enlarge your territory, enlarge your capacity.

Go forth, stretch yourself. And if you stretch your faith, nothing shall be impossible to you. You can go for anything. If a 63-year-old could in larger territory and go and claim four marathons, you can do it.

There is a lady one day in another prayer service who came. She was around 60 years. She told me when she was around 20, she applied for an Rural Development Programme (RDP) house 20 years ago, around 20, somewhere there. And she told me she had given up. She was asking, Pastor, can God do something? I told her, nothing is impossible. What did we do? We prayed with her. The next time I saw her, she told me the house was approved.

Nothing is impossible. I don’t know what is your dream. I don’t know what is challenging you. I don’t care. We don’t even have to think about it. Mention it, and our big God is ready to take your case and do it. Is it a job? Is it a promotion? Is it a marriage which is failing? Nothing is impossible before our big God. In Psalms 2:8, God said, ask of me to give you nations, and it will be given. Why are we asking small things? He didn’t say ask for a country, he asked for nations. You can get anything if you ask.

Brethren, everything in my life I have is just because of a miracle. Everything I’ve believed and I’ve come to see it come to pass. You can ask anything. I know it because I’ve practiced it over and over and over, and I know it can be done. I want to tell you, in the Book of 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, it speaks of Jabaz, Jabaz here meant trouble. It signalled all manner of failure. But one thing Jabaz knew in his mind, if only I can ask my father, he will give me whatever I ask. And he asked and God answered.

If God answered Jabaz, it doesn’t matter where you are now, it doesn’t matter the current circumstances, what matters is, do you believe God can take you from those circumstances to the next level.

There is no mountain our God cannot take you from, and there’s no level too low that God cannot take you from and take you to the next level. All we have to believe, just to tell you, it doesn’t matter Our current circumstances regardless of how things are going or how things are happening, God is taking us to the next level.

Our only problem is, according to James 4:2-3, we ask a miss and even we don’t know even what to ask and sometimes we ask for the wrong reasons. And no wonder things don’t turn in our favour. And then we think God is failing us. It is us failing because of our mindset. We need to have a God mindset, not a limiting mindset.

Brethren, stop praying those small prayers. I just want to get by. I need food for tomorrow. Those ones you don’t need to ask. You don’t even need to pray for food. You don’t need to pray for a job. Those are your Kingdom rights according to Matthew 6:31-33. And if you know that your child, no matter what, has to eat God knows you have to have a job. But we are asking for nations. We’re asking for big things. I want us,

Brethren start to pray the Joshua-like prayers, whereby Joshua prayed these prayers which shook the nations of those days, and shaped the universe of those days. He said, God, I want the sun to stand still. There’s only one sun, but I want it to stand still for me, Joshua, to win a battle. If you go to the Book of Joshua,10:12-13, you’ll see that was a big prayer because it shook even God.

But God still granted that that prayer too. How many people want the sun to stand still? if non then our prayers are not that big after all. We can ask anything, and we can receive it. Brethren, you are not doing God a favor when you start asking small things. I’m not sure God, I might offend God.

You’re not offending God. God is saying, ‘Come up, my son, ‘ by asking big, I know you are taking your position. Because the Bible says we are joint heirs with Christ. We are sitting up there. So why are you asking small things? Ask big things up there.

Just imagine according to Haggai 2:8 God created gold and silver. You’re just asking for a small piece of that silver or gold for that matter. You’re not asking for the whole gold in the world. Why are you feeling like it’s a big thing? God has said in Matthew 7:7, Ask, and I’ll give it because all the silver and gold is mine, I’m going to wait. So, we need to start to ask big.

Let’s not start limiting God and putting him in small boxes called this problem or that problem. God cannot fit in those small boxes we have in our mindsets. He is bigger than our small boxes. He’s bigger than that.

We need to know that God is capable of solving all our problem. Think like God. Act like God. Free him. Stop limiting God by your limiting mindset. Free Him by your faith. Have that faith that God will take me to the next level. Many of us, just like the Israelites, in Numbers 20:1 we see that Miriam died near, just very near to Canaan land, in a place called Kadesh, Kadesh was very similar to Canaan land, and the children of Israel wasted a lot of time there.

The environment looked like Canaan land, although it was not Canaan land. And they stayed there and stayed there until a giant like Miriam died there. Remember, what is keeping you away from your real ultimate goal, your canaan land, like Miriam? To Miriam, it was Kadesh, which looked like she had reached there.

Those are our comfort zones. Why do you want to die in your own comfort zones? Because they are dying zones. They trap people to remain in lower levels and never go above those levels.

Brethren, we need to come out of our Kadesh and go to our ultimate goal, which is Canaan land. And we will never, never doubt that God can take us there. Make up your mind and say, you will break those barriers from today. You will not be limited by anything. Not even levels which have been set by family, whether they have been set by your client, or your friends. Those are their levels. That’s not your level. That’s not your God’s level. God has you up there. You need to stop having that mindset.

Make up your mind to go further than where you are now. We are who we are now. Because of our mindset, we are at the lowest ebb, we can go up other than that. Brethren, gold It’s just a rock like any other rocks. But the problem with other rocks, they are shallow everywhere. You can get them anywhere.

But for gold, you got to dig deep. Sometimes you got to dig deeper to get your gold. And sometimes gold is not found near here. You go to dig deeper and deeper and then take it out. And once you take it out, apart from even digging deeper, you go to pass it through fire to refine it (Zechariah 13:9).

Sometimes God takes us. He goes deeper in our thoughts and takes away that dream, that ambition, that lost goal, that thing which you had and it has been lost. And then he refines it and brings something good out of it.

My brother, you don’t need to give up. Behind every challenge, there is a reward. Behind every mountain, sometimes inside the mountain, there’s Gold. Just look deeper and you will go far. Brethren, get rid of all the excuses and expect God’s explosive abundance to follow you. The minute excuses get out of the window, reward start to show up. Our problem is the fear. We are so much coward.

We are having fear, Oh, if I try this, what will people say? Don’t have doubt. Don’t tie God’s hands. Please don’t tie God’s hands when he wants to bless you because of your doubts, because of your unbelief.

Brethren, let’s go beyond that. And we will start to see that God has better things. There are new mountains to be climbed. There are There are new zones to be reached. There are new levels to be conquered. There are new giants to be fought. There are new red seas to be crossed.

There is a Canaan land for you. All you have to be is to think like the way God wants you to think, to be in his level of thinking and to stop thinking like a mortal man who has no hope, and who has no vision.

The Book of Deuteronomy 1:11, which I read in the beginning, God wants to make you a thousand times better, greater, a thousand times in terms of your character, in terms of your blessings, in terms of your prosperity. God wants to take you a thousand times. I believe it is possible

because Let’s say you were born to a giant parent, and you were a giant but because you leaved among dwarfs who leave a dwarfish lifestyle and who require dwarfish things. Does this mean you start to eat, dress and even live in a dwarf house. No no  you can’t do that because it will embarrass you. it is written. You are a giant killer, so quit behaving like a dwarf.

Dwarfs don’t achieve the rewards of a giant. They have limitations. They are down there. giants are up there. giants see far. dwarfs are limited. Why are you limiting yourself? You were created a giant. Don’t hang with the dwarfs because you will not go far. Dwarfs don’t go far because they are limited by so many things.

Our big God does make big things from small things. As Jesus said in Luke 18:27, “What is IMPOSSIBLE with men is POSSIBLE with God.”

Now-what about your life? What mountains do you face this morning? What are those things that seem to be impossible for you today? Is it sickness? Is it financial troubles or insurmountable problems at work? Is it a grief that you just can’t bear any longer? Is your marriage or family falling apart?

Do you struggle with anxiety or depression so great you don’t think you can make it through another day? Then hear this…. NOTHING is impossible with our big God….He can make a way when there is no way. Our big God can take the BIG things in your life….and make them small. As He told Jeremiah, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).

Brethren, continue believing with me that God will increase you and your children, as the Bible says in the Book of Psalms 27: 13, and you will see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Nothing shall be impossible if only you believe, if only you continue to honor and call our big God into your life.

Each one of us has an image on the inside of us of who we are and what we can do. Sadly, life and the devil have done a pretty good job of beating the hopes and dreams out of us. Not only do we suffer when this happens, but so do others. Each one of us has a God-given thing in us that are intended for others. If we don’t reach our full potential, then those people won’t receive their miracles.

That image on the inside of us acts like a ceiling, or limit, to what we can accomplish. If we see ourselves as nobody special, then we won’t be anybody special. But God never made a useless person. He had good plans for each one of us that exceed what we are experiencing now (Jeremiah. 29:11). We were made for greatness.

6 Ways To Ask God for Big Things To Happen In Our Lives.

1.) Start praying using the scripture .

If your view of our big God as small, it’s highly likely you’re not reading your Bible enough, or maybe your reading has become stale and it’s time to shake things up with a bible study group, new commentary or Bible study.

One of the ways you can ask for big things is through praying the Scriptures. You should pray verses such as Ephesians 3:20, which says, “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us…” You should ask God every day to help you not be ashamed of the gospel by praying Romans 1:16.

When it comes to praying for big things, you should do the same. Take some time to find Scripture verses that apply to your situation and pray them. If you’re not sure what verse to begin with, try praying Ephesians 3:20. There’s something uniquely powerful about praying God’s words back to Him. Plus, as you pray Scripture, you write it on your heart too.

2.) Take some time to reflect.

Why are your prayers so small? Have you been disappointed after praying a big prayer God didn’t answer in the way you wanted? Or maybe you’ve been praying for a really long time for something big and haven’t gotten an answer at all.

Or maybe like me you’re a little afraid to ask big for fear of someone else getting disappointed if God doesn’t cooperate with your plans. Whatever the reason, go to God with it (He already knows anyway…) and ask Him to help you become bolder in your prayers, and even to guide those prayers into His will for you.

3.) Step outside of your comfort zone.

Don’t be afraid to take risks in your prayers. Shed the idea that you somehow need to only pray for things you’re pretty sure God will do anyway. And remember that you (and I’m talking to myself too) are not responsible for protecting God’s reputation when it comes to praying and God answering – even if that answer is no.

While there are occasions when we should pray discreetly and with consideration for others’ feelings while we are praying in groups, if you feel moved to pray a bold prayer with a friend or child, ask in an honest, humble, and expecting manner

4). Pray unashamedly.

When you decided to start asking God for the things they wanted, they determined to do it unashamedly remember the sky was the limit, and they weren’t embarrassed to ask. They didn’t want to miss out on anything simply because they didn’t take the time to ask for it.

They learned that as they prayed, they weren’t responsible for the answer. What it looked like was up to God, not up to them. You may be afraid to pray unashamedly. Perhaps you feel like boldly asking for your heart’s desires is selfish or unspiritual. there’s nothing unspiritual about it. While it’s good to pray for things that feel spiritual such as missions or those suffering, it’s also okay to pray for the things going on in your life.

5). Pray specifically and consistently. start to specifically and consistently pray for big things, don’t give up. When you ask big things, be committed to praying consistently. While you don’t need to start with a big list of things, but you must be committed to pray every day.

Also, when you ask God specifically, He can then answer you specifically. And, if He does respond with a no to one of your requests, remember that you don’t come up empty. Instead, as He gives you what you need, you experience an opportunity to deepen your relationship with Him.

6). Pray honestly. All of the experiences that you walked through—the loss, the trauma, the answered prayers, and the joy—sometimes make you feel like are riding a wave. It’s an up and down, up and down journey. Psalm 62:8 tells you to “pour out” your heart to God. So, when you pray, be honest in your prayers. If you’re not happy, don’t pretend to be happy. God wants to have a personal, intimate relationship with you, which comes from telling the truth.

Always remember that however you feel, whatever you face, you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. All things are within God control just ask.
