Spirit Of Prayerlessness: 25 Prayers To Overcome It Now

Listen to this article

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1)

What Do You Mean By The Spirit Of Prayerlessness?

The Spirit of Prayerlessness is a spirit that makes a believer to become lazy, and even resistant toward prayer and any other spiritual communication with God. Prayerlessness is not the absence of words, but the absence of God in our daily decisions

When you stop praying, your faith becomes powerless, your vision becomes clouded, and your strength fades away. Hence as a result you stop partnering with God in the miracles He wants to perform in your life. Brethren always remember that the distance between you and God is measured by the distance between your knees and the floor. Every day you neglect prayer, you empower the enemy and weaken your defences, so PRAY like Daniel (Daniel6:10) and PRAISE like David (Psalm 119:164)!

Signs That You Under Attack By The Spirit of Prayerlessness:

  • Lack of Desire to Pray: It saps the passion and hunger for prayer, making a person feel bored, distracted, or disinterested whenever they try to pray leading to prayerlessness.
  • Spiritual Fatigue or Laziness: It promotes spiritual lethargy, causing one to neglect their prayer life.
  • Disruption of Prayer Habits: It interrupts or sabotages prayer time through distractions, negative thoughts, or sudden tiredness leading to prayerlessness.
  • Weakening of Spiritual Power: Because prayer is a key channel for divine power, the spirit of prayerlessness weakens a believer’s connection to God’s strength and guidance.
  • Opposition to Intimacy with God: This spirit aims to keep believers distant from God’s presence, making them vulnerable to other attacks like fear, doubt, or depression and this leads to prayerlessness.
  • Often linked to Complacency and Routine: Sometimes prayerlessness is disguised as busyness, routine, or thinking prayer is not important.

How to Combat the Spirit of Prayerlessness:

  • Repent and renounce any attitudes or habits of prayerlessness.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to renew your passion and discipline for prayer.
  • Use scripture and spiritual warfare prayers to break the hold of this spirit.
  • Develop consistent prayer habits, even when you don’t feel like it.
  • Seek fellowship with others who pray regularly to encourage your own prayer life.
