Introduction.
What I mean by the source is, let’s say there is a nearby sea and then the sea feeds a nearby lake and then in turn that nearby lake feeds a nearby river downstream; in this case the sea would be the source and then the lake and the river would be just a source, remember without the sea then both this two can’t have water and they wouldn’t even exit.
Most a time we look at people as the source because they have acted so but that is not true. Yes, they might offer has job, connections and even openings but that doesn’t make them the source instead, they are a resource or a tool in the hand of God. Genesis 12:3, ” I will bless those who bless you…“
For instance, God might use people to get you a job, help you open a business or even solve a major problem. But always remember that when you get that paycheck your company is God ATM, but God is the BANK. So even when the ATM runs out cash it doesn’t mean that the BANK has run out of cash or the Bank can’t use other available ATMs. Never forget that no matter what God is the source and everything else is his Resource.
“Everything comes from God; everything exists by his power; and everything is intended for his
glory.” (Romans 11:36).
We all need sources in our lives that we can depend on. A source is a supplier of something that
we cannot produce on our own. For instance, in your house, if you want to cook, you need a
source of energy. That gas line coming into your house is one of your sources. Same with
electricity. And then are financial sources, food sources, and government sources. Sources make
our lives easier, enjoyable, and productive.
Those sources are subject to shortages and
interruptions and can be in short supply. But not so when God is our source and supply.
The truth? God is the Source—the perfect and on-time Source for everything you could ever
need or want.
When you know that God is your source then you won’t compromise or sellout. For instance, you
won’t need to bribe anyone or even do unnecessary favours to people because they are not your
main source.
Psalm 60:11, “Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. (NKJV).“
That is why we must be careful that we don’t make a job, a business, a boss a business contact or
even money the source in short, a god. Even without them still God who is the source can still
bless you. God doesn’t need permission from anyone to bless you nor does God need anyone to
approve before he can bless you.
If your source has stopped working God can turn on another source. If God closes a door in your
life, He can open another door. And if another door closes, He can open a window, and you can
crawl through it. God is not limited to your ability and capacity. Bank accounts rise and fall.
Economies go up and down. Stock markets can go bull or bear. It doesn’t matter.
Always remember that behind the wheel is the driver and this car can’t move an inch without the
driver saying so. Psalm 16:8, “I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
(NIV).
You can never know about the source unless you are looking for it according to Psalms 34:5, “
I sought the LORD, and he answered me…”
Do you know the place where you can attribute to when you chose God to be your source. You
need to have a point of reference when you fill that your faith is lacking or is running low. What do
you call your place?
Genesis 22:14, “Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-Jireh, the LORD is my provider.
As it is said to this day, “In the LORD’s Mountain it will be provided.”
Another good case is that found in the book of 1 Kings 17:2-4 where Elijah was instructed by God
to go to the brook of Cherith from there he drank water and also the Lord commanded to feed
him.
Elijah didn’t lack because the LORD was his Source. Even if it would mean sending birds to deliver
food to His children, God would do it. He did it for Elijah. He led him to Brook Cherith.
After the brook dried up, Elijah was not left stranded there because the brook was just a channel,
no the Source.
A door had closed, Elijah’s Source would open another. Never mistake a channel of
blessing for your source, no matter how great the blessings you enjoy from it.
The LORD didn’t leave His servant to suffer, as other people in the city. God gave him further
instruction for his provision. He sent him to go to Zarephath in Sidon and live there, as He had
commanded a widow there to provide for him.
A widow is the most unlikely person to feed one in a time of famine. Nevertheless, God chose her,
obviously not only to provide for Elijah but also to provide for her and her son. Elijah never lacked
as there was a miracle of provision for the woman through Elijah. This supernatural supply of food
met the needs of Elijah and the widow and her son throughout the remaining period of the
famine (1 Kings 17:8-16).
When you truly identify the source then you can be sure that you will never lack anything in this
world and beyond and that is why the bible says in Psalms 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd: I shall
lack nothing...”
When God see you are serious then he gets involved and starts to teach you according to Psalm
32:8, ” I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go…”
God being the source he can always do a new thing despite the circumstances, location, level of
education or even income and even in times of impossibility so be prepared (Isaiah 43:19). Don’t
trust what you see or know instead trust the Lord who is the source.
When you are connected to the SOURCE people might think that you are simply lucky, because
everything is easy.
So, thank God for everything God is doing. Nothing happens by chance instead it God moving
around things in your favour.
Proverbs 16: When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace
with him.
What Is Then The Process Of Receiving From The Source?
According to Zechariah 4:10 it says Never ignore small beginnings, that low paying job, or even
that struggling business it might be the seed God has put in your hands to nature and then let him
bring the growth and increase in due time.
Sometime God will tell you to do some things which look impossible or even foolish don’t forget
know that this thing is foolish or impossible but all what God the source is waiting for you to do is
to take a step of faith and do that thing he said in obedience and then God releases the resources
you were looking for.
1 Corinthians 2:14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the
Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are
discerned only through the Spirit.
A good case in point is found in the book of 2 Kings 5:10-13 where we see that Naaman would
have missed the healing from the Lord who is the source of healing just because he was so much
worried about the tool or resource God had planning to use to affect this healing.
Remember God
is too big for us to fully understand Him so what doesn’t make sense to us make sense to God.
Isaiah 45:3 I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know
that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
Did you know that God knows where He kept those riches, that healing that connection so let Him
show you and don’t harden your head as if you know it all.
Since God is the source according to Psalm 84:11, “…The LORD will withhold no good thing from
those who do what is right.” God has no reason to withhold that good break or even a job from
you. Yes, people have failed you it’s time to go to the source directly.
So, learn to ONLY call on the name of the Lord and He will call on whoever call help you.
Psalm 50:15, “Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give
me glory.”
When last did you call unto the Lord instead of calling at men. Learn to depend on the unlimited source because we are limited on our own. But you have to receive Him as your one and only Source by faith. The Word of God will renew your mind, feed your faith, and get you where you need to be to receive the supply God has for you. If you allow it, God will be your Source for everything you need. Jeremiah states the result when one places their confidence in God as the source:
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8 ESV)
Most people think they have to be their own source; when something happens, they’ve been
taught to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and move on through their own efforts. That
sounds fine until we get to the self-effort part. We all have human limitations, and eventually, we’ll
find that “God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ
Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 ESV).
We need to put our trust and security in something that cannot be taken from us: God. Your job
shouldn’t be your security. Your job is a channel, but God is the source. Let me say it again: Your
job is a channel, but God is the source of your supply. He is the source that is never ending and is the source of whatever we’re short of
Psalm 118:8-9 “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust
in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.”
I want to remind you of a very simple truth. “God is My Source.” Sometimes SOMEONE needs to
remind us of this very simple truth.
Too many times we have a tendency of always depending on
ourselves to meet our needs. We run behind in our bills, so we look for a part-time job to make up
for it. And if you are able to get another part-time job, then I say you need to do that. But when
we depend on the arm of flesh to meet needs for us more than the hand of God that is when we
go wrong.
Always remember that pride and a sense of self-sufficiency can easily lead us to forget God
(Proverb. 16:18); therefore, we must unquestionably guard against these sins. Nothing can sink us
faster spiritually than pride.
Make God your Source. This starts by giving the control of your life to Him, through faith in Jesus
Christ. When you commit your life to Jesus, God takes care of you. More than what human fathers
do, God the Father makes plans ahead for you. He knows what you need and takes care of you
even in times of crisis, recession, depression, pandemic, or lock-down.
TAKE ACTION!
If you are not born again, you need to give your life to Jesus now. I urge you to take the
following steps: *Admit that you are a sinner and you cannot save yourself and repent of
your sins. *Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. *Renounce your past way of life –
your relationship with the devil and his works. *Invite Jesus into your life. *As a mark of
seriousness to mature in the faith, start attending a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching
church. There they will teach you how to grow in the Kingdom of God.
Kindly say this prayer now: O Lord God, I come unto You today. I know I am a sinner and I
cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross to save me
and resurrected the third day. I repent of my sins and confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour.
I surrender my life to Jesus now and invite Him into my heart. By this prayer, I know I am
saved. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and making me a child of God.
