Tongue Is The Only Proven Thing To Your Destruction

Listen to this article

Tongue.

According to Ecclesiastes 7:29 When God created us, he gave us a perfect tongue and even the tongue was given an assignment to name all the things God created (Genesis 2:19-20) but we later we made ourselves complicated and God stop working with us.

According to Ephesians 4:29 Remember, words from your mouth are either poison or fruit, so you choose. The heart is stronger than the tongue, and hence it’s the boss. When I was growing up, I used to hear people say sticks and stones may break my bones, but words could never hurt me. But when I understood the Bible well, I noticed that this wasn’t so because the Bible says the tongue has the power to kill or give life (Proverbs 18:21).

The tongue can speak more than 90 words per minute. Just imagine what James 3:5–6 tells us—that something as small as a tongue can destroy people and even their blessings. Psalms 10:7 His mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.

The words we speak with our tongue can create anything just like God used ONLY words to create the whole world. Jesus did all those miracles through the power of the tongue. Just imagine Ezekiel 37 we see Ezekiel bring to life dry bones. So, if others did all this through the power of the tongue what can you do or have done in the past? 1 Peter 3:10 If you want to enjoy life and wish to see good times, you must stop yourself from speaking evil and stop telling lies.

EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE WHO USED THEIR TONGUE IN THE WRONG WAY.

Before I speak about this people let’s read Proverbs 13:3 &Psalms 141: 3 which encourages us to guard our mouths so that we can live long.

So choose your words carefully and speak only when it’s necessary. ( James 1:19 ). Never be too quick to speak otherwise it will cost your life(Proverbs 29:20).

Joseph(Genesis 37:3-28)

Joseph was supposed to keep quiet but he did not. Still, even when he was sold into slavery he was supposed to keep quiet but he didn’t and he survived because of God’s mercy.

Samson(Judges 16:4-31)

Samson was special to God but due to the fact that he couldn’t keep his mouth shut, he ended up dead. By telling his secret to the enemy Delilah who organised his death.

El-i-sha and the 42 boys

They opened their mouths and mocked Elisha for his weakness and paid with their lives.

Nabal(His name meant a fool)(1 Samuel 25:2-42)

He was very rich and even he was given extra protection by David for free but when David asked for a favor Nabal mocked him and as a result David killed him.

Ananias and Sapphira(Acts 5:1-10)

Because of using their mouths to lie to Peter about the proceeds of a land sale, they ended up dead.

Miriam spoke against Moses(Numbers 12:1-8)

Her mouth led her to have leprosy.

HOW NON-CHRISTIANS MISUSE THE POWER OF THE TONGUE ALSO.

I grew up in the village fearing some people’s mouths because when they spoke something happened. These people used words to harm others and still others in the same village tried to heal the devastating effect of these evil tongues using their tongues. According to Luke 16:8, These people were not Christians but they knew the power of the tongue and they used it to harm things and people. Just as in 1 Samuel 3:19 The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground. Some non-Christians are demon-possessed also and can speak things and they happen.

So be careful that you don’t close the doors God has opened with your mouth. God wants to put you in places that require you to be quiet. You will see or hear great things just shut your mouth. Otherwise, you expose yourself to the demonic.

According to Luke 1:19-20, we should learn a lesson or two from Zechariah as to why when we get some news it’s good to remain quiet. Proverbs 10:19 let your words be few and you will be counted wise.

Most of us wonder how come we have prayed and nothing happened. We had great ideas and they never came to pass. What happened?

Maybe the people you are telling your plans are not too happy to hear that and that is the reason you should shut your mouth. Remember Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us how the heart is deceitful and wicked and that is the reason why you can’t know what other people have against you in their hearts.

According to Proverbs 4: 7 Wisdom is knowing what to say, how to say it, when to say it, to whom, and where.

THE MORAL STORY ABOUT THE TONGUE AS THE BEST AND WORST ORGAN.

One day, a rich man told his servant to roast the best part of the sheep for him. So the servant thought for a while and came up with the tongue, which he roasted for him. Then the following day, the master asked the same servant to roast for him the worst part of the sheep, and the servant still roasted for him the tongue. So, when the master saw the same tongue, he wondered why, and so he called the servant to explain to him why the tongue

The servant said that if the tongue remains truthful and honest it the best part of the body since it can take you to Heaven. Psalms 34:13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. But if the tongue tells lies, it the worst part of the body and it can land you in hell (James 3:5-12).

According to James 3:2 Can you say that you don’t make mistakes with your tongue?

Just imagine how you can praise God on Sunday and, on Saturday, go and sing in a bar or casino for drunkards in an ungodly language. Remember When cursing comes out of your mouth, you sound like the devil. In those moments, you use ‘OMG’ and ask if it is wrong to use OMG. (Exodus 20:7)

Our tongue can put us into trouble in so many ways: slander (Psalms101:5); Lying (Ephesians 4:25); Gossip (Proverbs 11:13); Boasting (Proverbs 27:2); Complaining (Philippians 2:14); Cursing (Romans 12:14); being critical or discouraging (Ephesians 4:29); Dirty jokes (Ephesians 5:4); exaggerating (Colossians 3:9); Let your “Yes” be “Yes” and Your No be No (James 5:12)

So what words are coming out of your mouth?? Proverbs 12:25. So let’s start to speak good things over others.

We should think before we speak to avoid many problems (James 3:5).

Also Psalms 52:2;Rom 3:13;Flatters Psalms 5:9;Oppressing others(Psalms 10:7);Lies(Proverbs 26:28);

Just imagine this the original Greek word for “blessing” in 1 peter 3:9 was eulogeo which means to speak “well of” and its where we get the English word for “Eulogy”.

So, like the Greek did speak well of your marriage, family, kids etc that is how you became a blessing to them.

Before you open your mouth THINK (T stands for Truthful H stands for Helpful I stands for Inspirating N stands for Necessary   K stands for Kind). James 1:26 all religions are based on the use of the tongue.

Isaiah 6:5 our tongues are unclean before the lord and so are those around us so we must be careful when we come before the lord.

THE MORAL STORY ABOUT HOW THE HYENA LOST ITS SALVATION.

Once upon a time, a certain nameless animal heard that people were getting saved which meant changing from old to new, in the village and so it chose to go and get saved too. But it was told by the pastor that the one condition was that the animal didn’t eat or kill other animals from that day. so it was saved and also baptized and given a very beautiful name which it enjoyed more than anything else it was called hyena.

So, It went home very happy. On its way, it saw a live springbok and then remembered that it would lose its name if it killed the springbok so it went far away from it. Then near its home, it saw a dead springbok so it thought to itself “If I am saved I can still eat any dead meat and still be saved? But another thought came but I wasn’t told not to smell it, lie on it, and even touch it.” So the hyena did all these things but was still saved.

Then it asked itself a question: should we not eat only dead meat and live? So, it started with the hooves and the skin; if the inside was alive, then it could stop. After doing this, it looked and found that its name was still there, and from that day on, the hyena still eats dead animals and keeps its name.

So how many things do you keep doing, and still you and others believe you are saved?

Most of us have baptismal names which as long as people call us and we answer back it means we are saved and even to assure us more when we speak in tongues. What we forget is that even the devil has many names given to him even by God himself leave men aside. So, a change of a name doesn’t guarantee anything,

Since you got saved, which parts of your body got saved? Because for some of us, our mouths are still unsaved. They eat and drink things they shouldn’t, and even though they think they shouldn’t, our legs still go to places we shouldn’t go. Our hands touch things we shouldn’t touch and You know what things? Worse is our minds. Where is your mind wandering now.

After hearing this story, it leaves us with a question: have we ever been saved properly at all?

Brethren believe me you are where you are partly because of the words you have been saying to yourself. Words are simply seed and they become what you want them to become. Your life will move in the direction of your tongue, so what direction is your life headed to. Is your tongue confessing things like business is slow, I don’t think I will make it etc. No wonder Proverbs 13:2 says that is what you get. You want to get money you can’t be found saying things like money doesn’t grow on trees etc.

Its how you say things that matters, not the words themselves (Proverbs 15:1). When you keep saying things like this: No good men out there, so you won’t get married; nobody is hiring, so how can you get a job? Proverb 12:18: Words can wound or heal. They can even corrupt you (Matthew 15:11). Remember, you can’t talk defeat and expect to have victory, or talk lack and expect abundance.

If you have a poor mouth, you are going to have a poor life in every area. Change what you are seeing if you don’t like it with things like I will lend and not borrow, I have a rich father, there is no sickness in heaven and I am healed, etc. If you keep talking about how, when, and even why you will end up in a certain situation or condition, you won’t get disappointed.

So, don’t be trapped by your own words (Proverbs 6:2). Are your words arresting or blocking your God’s favor to you? No matter what don’t tell people what you can and cannot do? In short don’t give those negative words life by speaking them out. Remember according to Philippians 4:19 God has promised us to supply everything we need, so why are you afraid, worried etc. After all all things are possible with God (Luke 1:37). Learn to not talk about the problem but the promise.

Just imagine if in 1 Samuel 17:43-44 David would have agreed with the words of his enemy Goliath that he will cut off his head… what would have happened? Instead, David answered back wisely in 1 Samuel 17:45-46 and God gave him what he spoke, just imagine he spoke defeat or agreed with Goliath. David was sure that God will fight for him despite what he was feeling inside he spoke victory. Leave the past in the past and keep prophesying you bright future.

Just like in the book of Zechariah 4:6-7, Zerubbabel knew that although the obstacle (the mountain) was so big, he would still overcome it with God on his side. Always don’t talk about the mountain; talk to the mountain. Whatever mountains you face, don’t look at them with fear; instead, tell them, You mountain of debt, I will lead and not borrow since my cup is running over with heavenly finances. Mountain, don’t you know my father controls it all?

HOW TO CURE OUR EVIL TONGUE

1.Feed on the word of God and that is what will come out of the mouth. So, change your thoughts to be Godly.

2.Know Jesus and get born again.

3. Ask God to forgive you for all the unloving words you said to yourself, and practice encouraging, comforting, and inspiring words.

4.To see what we say we need patience. After all it’s a walk of faith and sometime it takes time(Hebrews 10:36).

5.According to Jeremiah 1:10 Watch what you say always, since the word of God brings life but the word whispered by the devil can bring destruction. You can’t do more than you are willing to confess with your mouth.

Ezekiel 18:31 Most of the time, we spend a lot of money to take care of our mouths with things like toothpicks, floss, mouthwash, and tooth brushes. Our communities encourage us to keep our mouths clean and smelling fresh. This is all physical stuff we are taking care of, and they can’t clean the heart, where problems come from. Only Jesus Christ can take care of both the heart and the mouth
