Cycle of Debt: 15 Prayers To Overcome It Now

Listen to this article

Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant (slave) to the lender.” Proverbs 22:7.

What Do You Mean By Cycle of Debt?

A debt is often purchased comfort with delayed suffering. A debt turns temporary desires into long-term bondage. A debt grows quietly until it begins to govern loudly. A debt often whispers ‘enjoy now’ while hiding the pain of tomorrow. Debt multiplies stress faster than it multiplies possessions. A debt is not always a money problem; often it is a discipline problem. The cycle of debt thrives where impatience rules.

The cycle of debt means a repeated pattern where someone continually lives under financial obligation and never fully gets free before taking on more debt again. Debt becomes a “cycle” when it is not temporary but repetitive and it can take the shape of:

  1. Borrowing to meet needs or wants
  2. Constantly behind on bills
  3. Living paycheck to paycheck while owing others
  4. Borrowing again to cover previous debt
  5. Never getting ahead financially despite income

5 Causes Of Cycle of Debt.

  • Living beyond one’s means
  • Repeated financial emergencies without savings
  • Using debt to maintain appearances/lifestyle
  • Lack of budgeting or stewardship
  • Dependence on credit instead of long-term planning

Brethren I know that not every debt cycle comes from poor choices. But sometimes it results from:

  • Job loss
  • Medical expenses
  • Family emergencies
  • Economic hardship

That’s why I want us to pray to break it no matter the cause after all the bibles reminds us that “Owe no one anything, except to love each other” — Romans 13:8.

Create a “debt exit plan” (not just prayer without structure)

Faith does not cancel wisdom. so do follow the following practical biblical approach to come out of debt:

  • List all debts clearly
  • Start smallest to largest (momentum method) or highest interest first
  • Pay consistently, even if small amounts
  • Avoid creating new debt while clearing old debt remember that easy credit can create hard seasons.

Let’s Pray:

1.Heavenly Father, I repent for every financial decision made outside of wisdom, discipline, and Your guidance. Forgive me for wastefulness, impulsiveness, greed, and poor stewardship, in Jesus name.

2. Heavenly Father, help me bring to an end through wisdom, discipline, and obedience every financial pattern that has repeated itself in my family line, in Jesus name.
