Introduction.
Isaiah 9:6 ,”For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
It means in this kingdom you will be taught in a very wonderful and special way.
God’s kingdom is not a religion. Inside the kingdom, there is the power and that authority to govern, over the waters, the air, the land, and other seen and unseen realms, and there is also holiness because the one who rules this Kingdom is holy (1 Peter 1:14-15).
When you are talking about the Kingdom then you are talking about a ‘spiritual country or a nation’ which is ruled by God who is the King of Kings, and the ruler of his kingdom. For there to be a King then he needs laws to be in place to make it easy for him to govern. That is why God gave us the Bible to be used as the law which will govern us here on earth peacefully and orderly.
After all our God is not the author of confusion (I Corinthians 14:33). The purpose of the law is to deal with sinners. As long as there are sinners, there must be laws to restrain men from harming their neighbors (Jeremiah 44:23).
According to Romans 7:12, “So then, the Law itself is holy, and the commandment is holy, right, and good.” The laws we are talking about here are spiritual laws which are also called kingdom laws, but these same spiritual laws ( or kingdom laws) have the capacity to alter the natural laws which we use here on Earth.
For instance, here on Earth, we have the law of gravity, and because this law is in force it means that everything which goes up has to come down, so if you want something or someone to go up and not come down then you must first suspend or cancel this law of gravity by either replacing this law with another law or you have to move away from where this law is in force and go to another place where this law doesn’t operate at all. Let’s say that we want to fly, then we should go to the moon where there is less gravity.
Let’s say you still want to fly but you don’t want to go to the moon where there is no gravity then you must still figure out how to overcome gravity. In case you want to fly a plane then you must let the plane run on a runway at a very high speed until it cancels the law of gravity which was discovered by Sir Isaac Newton in 1665 and then the law of lift which was discovered by Daniel Bernoulli in the 1730s will take over and then the plane will fly.
In this case, it doesn’t mean that the law of gravity is not there but this plane has challenged it and it has overcome it. For instance, The Wright brothers were rewarded with flight when they applied these laws the right way, that is the law of gravity and the law of lift.
So, we cancel in the name of Jesus the name that is above all other laws which are against our health, wealth, premature deaths, failed children, etc (Philippians 2:9).
There are so many laws that govern the spiritual Kingdom of God.
According to Romans 8:1, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”
Brethren, I want you to know that the law of sin and of death which makes us to sin and then receive the wages of death (Romans 6:23) is here to stay, just like the law of gravity. But we can choose to challenge it by applying the kingdom law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus which can cancel it for as long as it takes.
This can enable us to live sickness-free lives and also live long until we fulfill our God-given promise of long life (Psalm 91:16). This can help us overcome demonic manufactured diseases, arrows of sickness, etc.
Don’t be afraid of breaking barriers, natural laws, and leveling mountains because you are not alone. Jesus is by your side, and he says that in Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you.
Don’t be afraid of famines because you are like a tree planted by the waters which gives fruit at its own time (Psalms 1:3; Jeremiah 17:7-8). Don’t be afraid of doing what took you where you are now. According to Isaiah 40:31, if you want to fly with eagles then stop hanging around chickens they have no business up there where eagles operate; think like an eagle and you will in no time go where eagles go.
A Story of a Snake and an Eagle Fighting To Illustrate How The Kingdom Laws Of God Work.
A snake is very dangerous especially if it’s inside its hole (its battleground), and as a result, no animal will dare it. So, if an eagle wants to attack and kill it then it will first wait until the snake comes out of its stronghold and then attack it because it’s more vulnerable.
The eagle picks the snake up and takes it very high in the air (to its own domain) where it’s very cold and unfamiliar to the snake and before the snake knows it, it starts dying. On the ground, the snake is powerful, wise and deadly but in the air, it loses its stamina, power, and balance. It becomes helpless, weak, and vulnerable. and then it becomes food for the eagle.
When you are in an unfamiliar territory where everything is unfamiliar to you then you are in your weakest moment and defeat is sure, It’s like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Remember (Hosea 8:12) says Even though I gave them all my laws, they act as if those laws don’t apply to them.
Without knowing the laws that govern a thing especially in the kingdom, is like a blind man trying to cross a busy road. Although there are laws governing the road which are monitored by the traffic lights, he can’t benefit from that and because of his ignorance, he ends up dying a painful death.
If possible, it is best to avoid confronting the competition by moving from your comfort zone. Try to change the battleground like the Eagle by taking the fight into a realm where you wield control. Maximize your strengths and minimize your weaknesses.
Just imagine you, as a born again start attending drinking clubs, doing drugs and also hanging around prostitutes, what do you think will happen to you and your Christianity? (John 8:44).
Remember stay within the kingdom laws of God that made you to be where you are, and you will continue to win. In short, remember to keep doing what got you where you are now. Is it a prayer, fasting, or attending church, you know what it is. Keep doing it. Otherwise, you will start failing. For instance, we see that King Saul was very humble before he became King but after he became a King, he forgot God and started to build monuments in his own honor (1 Samuel 15:12-19).
According to Isaiah 43:1-3, we see that when we join God’s Kingdom God knows us by our names because we now belong to Him. So, there is no need to pray for problems to go away because we are in God’s hands (Isaiah 41:10). We should pray for God to give us the strength to rise far above those problems (Ephesians 2:6).
The Kingdom Law of Faith (Law of walking on Water).
We see this Kingdom law in action when Jesus walked in the water and then he even taught Peter how to do so. (Matthew 14:28-29). We see that Peter had said to himself that if this was the same Jesus who had fed the 5000 people, just a while ago then he could make him, walk on the water also (above any dangerous situation).
So, it is time to stop doubting Jesus like the way Peter seemed to do at first and instead remember those times Jesus stepped in and saved you from that attack. When you didn’t have a job or business, your business wasn’t doing well, you were sick and about to die, etc.
We also see in the book of Isaiah 43:1-3 it says that even when you go through what can destroy you it will not destroy you. When you start doing things that defy the norm like the bible says we shall take up serpents and even drink poison, but it won’t harm us (Mark 16:18) for instance Paul was bitten by a snake but didn’t die (Acts 28:3). Yes, these things are dangerous, and they are supposed to harm you, but they don’t because you are not alone.
Remember in this Kingdom when Jesus says come out like what he told Lazarus and even Peter, you just come out of that situation at once, without thinking too much. For instance, Lazarus was dead and in Peter’s case, the boat was about to capsize, and still, Peter chose to leave the safety of the boat and come to Jesus. Remember God’s ways are past finding out (Romans 11:33-36) and they are above our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9).
God can make a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters, (Isaiah 43:16) so fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).
Instead of focusing on your problems focus on Jesus the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), He knows what you are going through so don’t focus too much on what you are going through (those debts, joblessness, sickness, etc) because you will start to sink. Remember as long as Peter was focused on Jesus he didn’t sink until he lost focus on Jesus and started to focus on the wind and the waves (Matthew 14:29-31).
How do we apply this kingdom law in our lives?
Yes, you might be going through trying moments and you have given up or have accepted that you will never do a certain thing or reach a certain level. Then this is why this kingdom law comes into place.
According to Matthew 14:6-13, What kind of bad prayers are you offering? Could it be that is the reason why you don’t achieve those goals? We Christians should learn to ask our God wisely. Otherwise, you might miss what matters because of who you associate with.
If we learn to apply this law well then instead of failing, we will start succeeding, and nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).
No wonder we see in the book of Matthew 14:22 that before Jesus walked in the water, he didn’t tell his disciples beforehand. The reason for that is that he didn’t want them to discourage him or cast doubt in his mind. Many of us are made to walk above the waters of life but then we keep on consulting the wrong people who keep on giving us the wrong advice.
For instance, in the book of Matthew 14:6-12, after winning the king’s favor Herodias daughter had a chance to walk above the water of her time by asking for up to half of the King’s Kingdom but instead, she chose to sink by asking for the wrong things based on poor advice from her mother who told her to ask for the head of John the Baptist.
In heaven the King is waiting for what you want to bind or lose here on earth (Matthew 18:18-20). So what are you binding or losing all the day long?
Yes, in worldly standards and laws, I might have failed despite my efforts and wisdom it is this time to use the laws of the Kingdom of God to cancel those worldly laws that kept standing on my way to success. I need to spend quality time with Christ alone to teach me like Peter how to walk above the waters of life today (Matthew 6:5-6).
When we overcome those problems, we are going through by only focusing on Jesus and not the powers of this world, then others will see God in us and come and worship our God (Psalms 95:1-6). Many people are just waiting to see how we handle that situation we are going through and then they will come and join us to worship our God (Matthew 14:32-33).
